Howard asked the Lakers to play inside-out. But D'Antoni is an outside in coach. Firing Mike Brown looks to be a very bad decision for the Lakers at this point.

Lakers issue was not firing Mike Brown, it was replacing him D'Antoni
Trying to get this older roster to play his running style is not going to work, everybody could see that.

I think at the very least Mike Brown would have them playing defense and at least somewhat pound the ball inside. Dwight Howard with 5 shot attempts last night is disgraceful. Kobe's selfishness will kill this team.

I was high on Dwight thinking his talent is worth gutting a roster. But in this half season Dwight has shown the world that he is a malcontent, he has low bball IQ or IQ in general and he's just not motivated.
As much as my dislike for Kobe, I don't know what else he is supposed to do. He's an ISO guy playing in a run and gun offense.

DH12 trade rumor again.
http://nba.si.com/2013/01/23/dwight-...1_a8&eref=sihp
No team will trade for DW12 unless they get gaurantee that he'll sign with them long term this summer. That pretty much leaves only Dallas or NJN in the hunt for him. What do you think is going to happen with DW12 this year or this summer?
1. Sign for max contract with LAL?
2. Sign for max contract other than with LAL as a FA?
3. Get traded and sign max contract with that team?
4. Get traded and sign max contract with another team?

The Nets are a non-starter, they killed their chances at Dwight when they took on Joe Johnson's albatross. They'd be in even worse cap hell than the Lakers if they traded for Dwight. Plus Brook Lopez has looked better than Dwight this season, so I wouldn't trade him either (a prerequisite to a Howard trade). And is Dallas really going to be that much better than the Lakers? Certainly not for how much of a pay cut he'd have to take to go there. The Lakers will probably still resign him, with D'Antoni a dead man walking and fired at the end of the season.

The Lakers owe D'Antoni 3 year at 10mil per after this year, hard to think they'll let him go and pay him $30mil but that could happen.
If the 2nd half is trending up for LAL, Dwight will probably resign. If the 2nd half is trending down or remains the same, I think more ugly stories will come out of the LAL locker room that there's a distinct possibility will not resign. Even if Dwight does resign, he's contract will only add to LAL's mega payroll woes as they still have to pay Kobe, Nash and Pau big bucks next year.
Regardless, what once thought was a steal of a trade for Dwight now looks disasterous.

Orlando and Denver without a doubt came away the winners from this trade. The way Vucevic is playing right now he looks like the best center in the deal too. Just goes to show you can't judge a trade on paper alone.

"Howard was "despondent" and did not offer much of a reply, according to a team source."
Howard being "despondant" is not a good sign. I have been "despondant" in some situations in my career too when I didn't want to work with that person. I think Howard now knows he's not the first banana in LAL when Kobe is there.
The problem is Howard is not a big enough person to be the first banana for any team. In last night's loss to MEM, LAL showed no emotion nor energy. D'Antoni might not be the right coach for this team but I don't think his game plan is the main culprit here.

Firing Brown was the right choice as he is a crappy coach but bringing in D'Antoni to work with an already horribly put together roster that doesn't fit with what he does was another mistake.
The Lakers thought they could just throw talent together without any regard for fit, healthy, ego or age and now they are seeing that it is a stupid plan. They have too many redundant guys and too few willing to give up their touches for others.
It seems the one guy (Nash) willing to do that is the one guy that needs to handle the ball and shoot more.

Watching the Lakers, it's painfully obvious the two biggest reasons they suck. One, they are old and have developped absolutely no young talent. Two, they are stunningly un-athletic. Teams like Golden State and Denver have adapted their rosters, the Lakers have followed down the same path. This team needs to be blown up, with everyone but Dwight being available. The Lakers need a roster overhaul now to set themselves up to make a run at LeBron in 2014.

Thumbs up. Not one of the best in the league, but classy, nice type, and nice touches for the city's history. I don't really think it's necessary to have the bird looking so pissed off, but it's better than the cartoony fan-renditions that have come out.
