Farewell "Goodbye CP" Threads; fun while they lasted

I think the time has come, its time for goodbye threads to take a break from Calgarypuck.com, and we have to see if we can live with all of the free bandwidth we'll have.
Its been pointed out for a while that they've changed as threads, that they've become mean and a bit of a unhappy force on this board.

They didn't intend that, if they've offended people they're sorry.

They're not being an effective attention grabber and to an extent its become more of a grim excercise then what its suppossed to be which is look-at-me!

When girls break up with me they always say "Its not me its you" In this case its false.

So they're going to take the 6 month challenge and walk away from it all.

They don't have anything really intelligent to say in closing. At the end of the day on boards like this and all other boards this post will become forgotten within days.

But in the words of another notorious thread, its time to step back and rip the bandage off and log out of this great world.

			Lol.
I definitely agree with the sentiment. But knowing the internet this will probably only encourage more of these threads.

 All, 'ironically' of course...

What are the threads you could care less about? This is clearly a thread you care a lot about.

I like when frequent posters let people know they are taking a break for a bit other wise they just kind of fall off the face of the earth. I need closure. Same with any thread asking for advice, the person should come back and let us know how it went.

I took a year-long break and didn't make an announcement. Didn't tell anyone anything. I just stopped posting, deleted short links to the forum so I'd have to physically type in the addess if I ever felt like cheating and, in all seriousness, never looked at this place even once for the entire self-exile. No way to check inquiring PM's either. Serious gonzo.
People jumped and their hair turned white when I first posted again.

I found some threads where people had wondered about my health. Maybe a few thought I'd deservedly gone to prison.

From that experience, I'd say if you're cold turkey leaving, maybe PM someone staying alive on the forum and tell them what you're doing so they can answer queries as to your whereabouts. "Yeah, he's fine. He just hates all of you." Something like that.

Dramatic exit threads scream "drama queen" a bit though. Just go away.

 My two cents.

We all missed your posts going on and on about yourself, carefully reminding us at the end that it was indeed you that wrote it.

I think all it does is give people a chance to pile on you more if you're leaving on bad terms. You might as well put a "kick me" sign on your back.

My favourite are the ones who announce an exile and then can't even make it the 6 months duringa lockout shortened year.
Those ones are the most delicious.
