Sliver's worst nightmare becomes reality...they're starting their takeover.
Quote:
A man has died after a dog jumped into a van, stepped on the accelerator and struck him as he opened a gate outside a Florida Panhandle home, according to officials.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Iris Fortner, 56, and James Campbell, 68, were backing into their driveway at their home in Cantonment on Monday when Campbell got out of the passenger side of the vehicle to open the metal gates.
Troopers said Fortner opened the driver's door to see where Campbell was standing, and that's when Fortner's large boxer bull dog jumped into the car and pressed the accelerator.
FHP says Fortner tried to stop the van before the vehicle backed into Campbell, but he was trapped under the van.
Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene by Escambia County paramedics.

It is the same reason those same people wear Affliction, and get face tattoo's. As a fashion accessory to support their tough guy image.

Somebody should have checked if the kid even liked the Flames, he does look pretty disappointed. What is Kiprusoff wearing under the hospital garb? Very odd looking shirt.

Slightly off topic, but the picture of the kid in post #853 (chemgear's post) - take that and put it on my kid's foot (slightly smaller) - they called it a 'traumatic degloving' - hers didn't come all the way off. Just opened it up and peeled it back, right down to the bone. Her injury came from a toboggan ride down a hill. Go figure.
Eventually, her injury had that "lovely" purple look to it, like the boy's face in Fotze's post (post #855). Then it all sloughed off. And got infected. And then the infection went into the bone. Osteomyelitis. It was great fun. Further complications. 5 hospitalizations. A surgery. PICC line x 2. Pretty much 2 years of hell. </sarcasm>

Kid is a huge Flames fan, unfortunately due to the surgery is under orders not to move his face muscles...therefore no smile for the pic. Apparently he was pretty pumped to meet Kipper - Doctor postponed a procedure to accommodate the time of the visit.

What are the odds the next dog bite injury in the calgary area will involve a pitbull?

A seven-year-old boy who underwent surgery after a dog bit him in the face at a Cochrane home is doing much better, but is still recovering in hospital.
Meanwhile, the two-year-old female pit bull cross remains in the care of Calgary Animal and Bylaw Services for a 10-day quarantine period. The dog’s fate is still unknown.

That kid is going to be so f'd up around dogs for the rest of his life. When I was a small kid a dog attacked me and almost completely tore my ear off, there was about a 1 - 2 centimetres still attached. When I see a dog even 25+ years later ... there's still a part of me that goes bitch mode for a second.

Sorry to hear about the ordeal your daughter went through.
Sounds like we need to call for a ban on toboggans.

The Alberta Kennel Club Winter Classic show was held at Spruce Meadows this past weekend.
Over 400 dogs being shown and over 1000 spectators/exhibitors all in a 36,000 sq ft area.... and not one dog attack.
P.S. My dog won Select Dog in Breed and he also obtained his CGN obedience title, this weekend... sorry... just had to brag a bit..

I'm not surprised there weren't any dog attacks. Well-trained dogs under the watchful eye of their owner are much less likely to attack.
It's the skids that don't train their dogs and low-lifes that don't leash their dogs that are more of the problem. Combine those with some of the more vicious breeds and that's where the attacks primarily seem to come from.
