The amusing part is that bigoted, ignorant and racist strongly applies to the native side as well.
Not to mention ironic and hypocritical.

Sure it may well apply to many on their side. But the denial of racist attitudes in this thread would be pretty amusing if it weren't just completely pathetic and sad.
Most of the posters that had any brains abandoned this thread within the first ten pages and let the rednecks take over. It's like talking to a brick wall around here.

I would argue that the assumption that criticism of a culture is racist is racist in itself.
I am not saying that this thread is free of it - because it is not - but I am saying that you need to look in a mirror, icecube. You are showing me that you are no different than that which you criticize.

Is it redneck to question the spending habits of some reserve chiefs?

I don't know, the first few pages seemed to have the most racist posts. Now it seems like normal discussion.
Just cause we're not supporting the movement doesn't make us racist.

Metis get nothing right now (could change with a recent court ruling). They did extend treaty rights to a new generation about a year ago. However since that generation are pretty much over 30 the only real benefit is no GST on big purchases.
However if you look t the Metis (especially up north) they are successful and not prone to the same substance issues that the rest of the native population is. Is that because they have never had the benefits ? I think it plays a role.

I have no problem with questions, criticisms and debating an issue whatsoever. What did I say that was wrong exactly? A TON of the posts in this thread are ignorant, colonial/ paternalistic. Many include thinly veiled racism.

Metis pay GST on everything. Only treaty first nations on reserve (or urban reserves) get tax benefits.

Please provide examples.
It appears that once people start asking questions of FN and the protestors they became racist.

No, not necessarily. It does if you paint every chief with the same corrupt brush. There are many bands with balanced books and honest leadership. FN are not the only people out there who have corruption in their midst either.
Accountability is extremely important and must be addressed, nobody is arguing that. That shouldn't take away focus from other issues that need attention now.

I think that is part of the problem.
The mov't doesn't appear to have a clarified intent. What is the mission statement?

In my opinion many Metis are better off because
a) The overwhelming majority did not attend residential schools
b) many are not a visible minority (the stigma of skin colour did and still does play a role in racist attitudes). Many Metis denied their identity so that they would not have to face racism
The Metis were still an impoverished group but they have fared a bit better because of different circumstances.

Not entirely true. There are lots of programs available for Meti that provide educational grants, etc.

Yet you have painted everyone who posted in this thread or opposed to INM as racist, etc.
If you want to end racism - call out the individuals responsible. Have them face their words and debate them directly.
Don't lump us all into one pile.

The posts in this thread have generally been pretty reasonable since I started following posting in it (yes I'm taking the credit, thank you for asking). Maybe there was a bunch of racist stuff before that but lately, not so much.
As icecube clearly has a particular political disposition in respect of this topic, I would like to ask, first and foremost, for a cogent summary of what this movement is about. Cogent meaning, tell me what specifically they object to, and tell me specifically what they would like done about it.
Examples of racist ignorant bigoted redneck paternalistic statements as alleged would also be welcomed because as I say it seems to me that while the thread has exactly the political leaning you'd expect on a forum like this one, the discourse hasn't been particularly over the top (especially for an internet forum).

Your item b) cuts both ways. My husband (part native) faces white slurs from natives all the time. Examples: Traitor, apple, racist, etc.
Sometimes they speak in their own tongue, not realizing my "whitey" husband can understand them.

Not every post in this thread is racist. Here is one that is.. It's a post that you thanked.
One of my friends who is native put this on his facebook wall today:
"Tomorrow I am joining the "idle no more" movement. At 4am my alarm clock will ring and I will be idle no more. I will go to work to support my family and maybe expand my business, instead of demanding things given to me. What a weird concept..."
It doesn't matter if the person who wrote that is native or not. It's clearly
racist.
"Let's start a coddle no more movement. I am tired of supporting these bums. They lived off the land before we were here. Let them go back to that. No more money"
There's a grocery list of posts like this throughout this thread that would take more time than i have to list them all.
