^ that's the fact. Goran Hogosta has to be one of the great all-time hockey names.

without the signature that would've been a good red herring.

^ correct. At the Memorial Cup in 2000 me and my then-roomate started a sarcastic "Fin-ley!" chant going around the Halifax Metro Centre when the Mooseheads started routing his Colts.

Amazing how much crap gear these goalies are wearing now compared to even 20-30 years ago. Too bad they can't go back to old school equipment instead of looking like blimps.

Man it's tough being a goalie, always the subject of everyone's jeers.

I just had to post this one of Claude Bourque almost looks like they found some foam and strapped that to the back of his hand with a leather belt. Notice the belly protector poking out below the sweater. These goalies wouldn't believe the Star Wars equipment today.

He starred with the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Maroons, winning 4 Stanley Cups along the way. He was one of the first bona fide goaltending stars in first the NHA and eventually the NHL, and his accomplishments were recognized when he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame back in 1965.

Hell of a picture you found there of Clint in the Ottawa Senator uniform one of the first all star goalies.

I never dreamed of using my mom's oven mitts for the street hockey game when I was a kid. Revolutionary!

Dolly Dolson

#fullpost{display:inline;}
With all the great goaltenders that have played for the Detroit Red Wings, who do you think holds the team record for the lowest goals against average over one season? Terry Sawchuk? No! Apple Cheeks Lumley? Good guess, but nope. Chris Osgood? Sorry.

The answer is Clarence Dolson!

Who?

Clarence Dolson.

Born in Hespeler, Ontario way back in 1897, Dolson was a pint-sized goalie who wowed everybody but Detroit (at that time they were called the Cougars) boss Jack Adams. Despite having an incredible 1928-29 rookie season which included 19 wins in 44 games, 10 shutouts and a GAA of just 1.37, Adams didn't feel that the man nicknamed Dolly was a legitimate big league netminder.

Eh Rookie you know I just don't think you got what it takes. Your effort just isn't there!

How does that conversation go? Wow!
