Default NB Deerfoot closed at 32 ave [Update- reopened]

Just heard this on the radio. NB Deerfoot is closed at 32nd ave. Apparently an unmarked police car was attempting to pull over a minivan when it was rear ended by a semi hauling livestock.

I hope everybody is ok- but I had to question 660 News' choice of words:
"Tow trucks are on the scene to try and get the pigs out of there."

It's a freakin mess, as are all associated roads (McKnight, 32nd Ave, 12th St) which I was near.

When will the CPS realize that pulling people over on Deerfoot is way too dangerous.

I got yelled at once by a cop for going to the next off-ramp before pulling over. I thought he'd appreciate me keeping his safety in mind....

As opposed to the alternative of allowing Deerfoot to be a complete free for all?

Yeah, I'm sure that will happen.

Cops can easily take down the plate and issue a ticket right to the person's home or even mail them the ticket.

How many more cops have to be hit and injured/killed on Deerfoot?

It's cool. It will still only take 7 minutes from the downtown core to Airdrie.

So I can hide if Im DUI or have a stolen vehicle by just going on Deerfoot? And all I need to worry about is a ticket by mail?

Moving violations aren't the only things that come from pulling someone over.

Not after the toll booths are erected. It will be 9 minutes then.

I heard from a coworker who just drove by there that the van was "burnt out" and missing a door, and there was also a 4x4 truck involved in the accident. From what he says he saw he thinks there was most likely a fatality/fatalities with cops taking pictures and taping spots up

They could lead them off the freeway and on to a side street

News reported everyone was fine, just a few minutes ago. Van is not burnt out, unless the clear pictures they showed on the news are completely wrong. The truck involved was the unmarked police vehicle, the van was who he pulled over.

And you guys will be the same people demanding to know why the cops didn't pull them over immediately when said drunk causes a fatal crash with a cop quietly trailing behind, waiting for the drunk to exit.

Just a thought, but perhaps the problem here isn't the cop pulling another vehicle over, but rather the moron in the semi failing drive appropriately or cautiously.

That's good to know. I hadn't seen or heard anything about it yet at the time, I'm happy its probably not as bad as he made it seem

So THAT'S how you get such good pictures of planes!

Hopefully, Deerfoot gets cleared up before rush hour.

Me too! Total jag off cop (most are good but this was a bad one) was freaking out as I slowly found a safe place to stop. But instead of thanking me he yelled at me and threatened to charge me with not pulling over fast enough. Part of me should've taken the chance and called his bluff.

Next time ill just pull over to the shoulder of the fast lane and put your life at risk constable dip****.

Anyway, glad to hear everyone in this incident is ok.
