I usually rate based on potential ceiling and likelihood to make it. In terms of ceiling, Jankowski's probably #3. Maybe even #2. (He's #6 by my current musings overall).

Brodie and Bouma were considered part of the NHL roster by the end of last season.

Gaudreau, Sieloff and Gillies are all named to team USA's prelim roster for the WJC.

They also have Gaudreau at #4 behind Sven, Brodie, and Reinhart. I guess in terms of being NHL ready that might be true but I find it hard not to put Johnny Hockey at #2 these days
I have never seen the Flames this "high" in the list ... over the last few years, HF always had them between 26 and 30 (and rightly so). I think they would have deserved to be around 20 though. No offense to Brodie and Max Power, but Johnny Hockey should be way ahead of them in that list.

Well to be fair our pool is still shallow, especially on the defense.

But at least it's getting better.

Coda Gordon had the only Broncos goal in a 2-1 loss. Was his first goal since mid-November, he was goalless for 8 games ... I hope he can go on a tear soon. He had a good start to the season but went really cold in November. Right now, he's on pace to fall short of last year's numbers - he had 53 points and projects to 51 this year if he plays the same amount of games. He's also a team-worst -11.

Tyler Wotherspoon had two assists in a 7-5 win (the Winterhawks keep rolling!). He was a -2 though, something rare nowadays ... only the third time in 26 games that he finished a game with a minus rating. He's still the league leader with +32 ahead of teammate Nic Petan (+29) and Chiefs forward Mike Aviani (+26). Very good offensive numbers too, he now has 21 points in 26 games ... on pace to double his point total from last year (28).

Maybe Witherspoon/Ramage could become our future shutdown pairing.

Coda Gordon found his way back onto the goal column tonight in a 5-6 loss to Kelowna.

He's got 8 goals, 18 assists, and is -12 in 32 games on what is a pretty bad Broncos team.

Brett Kulak also had a good night with a goal and an assist in a 7-2 win over Victoria. That puts him at 5G and 12A in 28 games played.

I can understand why someone would rate Gaudreau lower than Reinhart, Max has played at a few different levels (including pro this year and last) and shown growth against much more mature opponents.

Johnny is still untested in any market outside of the States college system.. this WJC will be a good chance for him to open some eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big supporter of his hockey, just saying that I understand why others may make this claim. I have a feeling that his background/size will be something the talking heads bring up even after his first 20 goal season "OH I dunno can he repeat that great amount of success when he is at such a disadvantage... Oh two 20 goal seasons is pretty good but can he really do it again? He has benefited from some great role players... Oh ok well a 30 goal season is even better, especially for his size.." etc.. etc..

I understand why Reinhart is ahead of him. Gaudreau is potentially over rated by Flames fans. At least those that follow the prospects closely (my wife has no idea who he is).

Don't get me wrong, in terms if ceiling and skill level he is one of our top prospects. Personally I have a good feeling about him and think he WILL be a substantial NHLer. But in terms of prospect rankings he isn't going to be on many leader boards. He is still a project with a LONG way to go to be an NHL player playing in a division unlike the NHL.

Well his pro debut last season was good. But he's mostly played 4th line or checking line this season, didn't stand out to me in the Heat games I watched except on the PK.

I'd definitely have Gaudreau ahead of Reinhart at this point mostly based on ceiling.

Not sure I'd agree with that. Feaster has talked about getting calls from teams asking for Gaudreau and that was before this year. I think his value has shot through the roof since we drafted him. He's easily one of our top prospects. His numbers are brilliant for his age and size.

Gonna be exciting watching him at the WJC against the best in his age group.

The Hitmen and Oil Kings are on Shaw right now.

Culkin finished a 4-1 win with an assist and was +2.
The Spitfires crawl back again for a win in the shootout.

Boston College and Providence tied 3-3.

Gaudreau with a goal and an assist for BC. Gillies with the tie in net for Providence. Arnold nearly scored late in the third (so close it was reviewed) and had a good chance in OT.

Jankowski was injured and did not play.

I don't think anyone overestimates his ceiling. But fans might be overestimating his chance of achieving it.

No question that he is in demand by other GMs due to his ceiling and recent hype. But in terms of top 50 NHL prospect boards etc I think there are too many other prospects with similar ceilings that are closer to the NHL with a better chance of reaching it.

But like I said, I have a good feeling about him and am enjoying the ride regardless of where he may or may not fall on an arbitrary chart.

Future teammates (both on Team USA and the Flames) do battle in Providence, just before Gaudreau's goal (somehow, the puck found its way over Gillies' right shoulder): https://twitter.com/BCHockeyNews/sta...931584/photo/1
