Girls and kids accusations when it comes to sexual assault cases are taken as 100% truths almost immediately. If you get accused of sexual assault, you're guilty until proven innocent.
If you piss off a girl that is crazy enough, she can ruin your life instantly by simply claiming you assaulted her.
It's crazy to think that this day of age, people can be convicted based on lie that a child tells. There obviously couldn't have been material evidence, and in a case of one person's word against another person's word, how can they decide who to pick... especially when children are not likely to understand the magnitude of the situation.

So perhaps she should spend 4 years behind bars to even things out.......
She should definitely get a prison sentence. Not for revenge purposes but because she lied ot the court.
This guy should also sue the crap out of her and her family.
This girl was 17 years old at the time of the trial. Could she not see how having someone sentenced to 4 years in prison for rape was worse than having to deal with getting caught watching porn?
At Friday's hearing, Bell said that Coast would be arrested after the hearing and charged with perjury.
But charged and convicted are two different things. I was also shocked that he got convicted based off of a testimony for an event that occurred four years prior. They need to make an example of this girl to prevent this type of thing from happening again and again.
But do you think the "you can't punish her as it will scare real rape victims from coming forward" card will come into play?

If they are real rape victims what do they have to worry about? The only reason they know buddy is inocent is because she told them. I don't think a court will punish someone if they present the accusation of rape, but it is not proved, unless the accusation is false.

Exactly.
Increase the penalty for this crap 10 fold in my opinion. This not only ruins someones life forever but makes light of rape and other assault.
The good thing for him is he will be getting a pretty good payday from her/family and the state for wrongful conviction and damages.
She should go to prison for at least a year.

If I was him I would be pressing forward with a civil case against her and her family (as she was a minor). For her continued lies to result in someone spending four years incararated that should be worth low eight figures in a civil case.
That's a good point, it took her years to come forward, so this was a continued lie, that has to somehow play into her sentencing. Any lawyers that can weigh in on this?
I totally agree about the rape victims not being scared to come forward, but so often we have seen people twist stuff like this to somehow protect the guilty. I just hope she doesn't stand in front of a sympathetic judge.

I don't even think she came out willingly. According to that news clip, she works for the police dept. Something like this might come out during the screening process. They ask very blunt questions like "have you ever hit a girlfriend?", etc.
