Just got let go from my job..
Long story short I was one day left from the end of my probation period and the company I work for decided to let me go. I don't really want to go into details but out of the 8 people they hired i'm the 3rd one they let go... When i asked for a reason as to why they let me go they basically could not even give me a straightforward answer.. anyways I'd rather not go into that part..
Few questions
1. Do I have to list this job on my resume?
2. If a potential employer pulls up my sin number, will they see this job on there?
3. How good are temp agencies in finding a position? I need something to tie me over until I graduate in April. I have 4 classes left until I complete my degree and i'm taking 2 classes at night Wed/Thurs and intend too next semester as well as to allow myself to hold down a full time job.
4. What about background checks? Will this show this job on there?
Appreciate any comments/opinions
Thanks
Bluck.

No, they can't "pull up" your SIN at all really, and can't see this job.

You don't have to list this job on your resume.
You don't give an employer your SIN until you already have the job. It's for letting the government know you're making money and they get their share.
Temp agencies are fine depending on the type of work you want to do. There are general temp agencies and ones that specialize in certain industries.

But you might get the (interview) question about what you were doing during that probation period - it might sit as an empty hole of time in your resume summary.

It's best to just move on.
Forget this job ever happened and upgrade.

The employer can't tell squat from your SIN number. It's only used for your deductions, record of employment, etc. It'll be a gap in your employment record but that doesn't seem to be a problem in your case. The reason companies tend to let people go before 3 months is because they don't need cause. After 3 months it becomes difficult to get rid of problem employees, not saying that you fit that description but sometimes they play it safe.

Exactly. But I would recommend adding the job to your resume and be straight with the next employer that asks. Tell them the truth. They let you go ONE day before, and didn't give an explanation. This happened to me. My current employer understood. You'd be surprised how understanding people will be. You'll land on your feet!

1. No
2. No.
3. I would not bother with Temp Agencies, especially in Alberta. Go straight to the employment centre, update your resume, and call/fax/email out as many resumes to employers as possible. Call up potential employers to see if they are hiring. Finding a job should be a full time job, in itself.
4. No
Whatever happens, do not get discouraged. Maybe the job was not the best fit for you. Keep trying. Never give up.
Best of luck to you!

Why would you bother putting a job on your resume that you were probably at for less than three months.
Many people fill in month long gaps in their resume by stretching their employment times. No big deal, just put general years of employment history not months on your resume.
If you are worried about a gap in your employment history it is much easier and better to explain you were unemployed and looking rather than appear to be a job jumper or that you have a flaw that prevents you from keeping a job.
