Not sure what it might be doing, but 5 car consists (I think there have even been some 6 car ones) are sometimes used to shuttle cars between storage yards. The traction power systems can't handle having that many cars in a consist powered, so the cars are often being "enslaved" or towed by the first car or two. Although the new traction power substations on the west line might be able to handle 5 cars. They can certainly handle 4.

Let's forget about 4 and 5 cars, let's focus on reliable 3 car service first.
How many times does a car have to break down before they realize there's an issue.

A large part of the order of 50 LRVs that is awaiting provincial funding will be for replacing the worst of the old U2 LRVs. Only some of them will be for growth (i.e. 4 car train implementation). No reason growth and replacement can't occur concurrently. Well, other than the there-isn't-enough-funding reason anyway.

That video makes it rather obvious that we don't have 24 hr service. Which is too bad.

They are rebuilding the entire station, and not just extending the platform?

Yes. There will no longer be an enclosed stationhead, and all access to the platform will be level crossings with the tracks.

Yet another major c train shutdown. Looks like like we're going on one per week.
Calgary transit sucks. Buy a car, use gas, support the Alberta economy.

Even though the Train is my means of conveyance for this evening's commute home, I'm having a hell of a time in my warm office laughing at all the tweets of the pic's of @calgarytransit's self-fail. An accordion bus stalled sideways on 7th ave and is blocking all Train and bus traffic in all directions downtown. Just reading all the people losing their mind on twitter right now!

Right now I'm following the epic tale of someone who is trapped on one of the trains downtown. He has to take a leak in the worst way and is asking @calgarytransit what to do.

Just received an an email alert from CT about the issue, nearly 2 hours after the fact (was sent at 7:05). Glad to see transit communicating with their standard level of competence.

 to me

As of approximately 5:15pm, CTrains along 7 Avenue are experiencing major delays, as well as along the south CTrain line near 39 Avenue Station.

Crews are working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Hey, if anyone was going to be able to take a bad system, and somehow make it worse, its Calgary Transit. How they managed to make a new system less friendly to touch and phone devices, and break its compatibility with chrome...
