My facebook newsfeed has been blowing up the past couple days with people posting pictures and statuses containing things like "My brother was gay and committed suicide due to relentless bullying where's his facebook page with thousands of likes?" Shouldn't the people who have faced similar things at least be happy that bullying is getting attention as a serious issue, rather than complaining that their brother/sister/friend/whoever didn't get mass media attention? Those types of posts just seem extremely selfish to me.

The group, which calls itself Anonymous, identified a 32-year-old New Westminster man, published his name, address and email address online, and linked him to accounts on forums and a webcam site involving underage teens.
On Monday night, a man who answered the door at the address listed by Anonymous said he doesn’t know anything about the online claims and doesn’t know the man the group identified.
“I’ve already been through this with the police,” he told The Province before shutting the door.

sounds like Anon is willing to let the law handle this. but it's good to know if they don't (quite likely with our justice system) that this guy won't get off scot free

I hate people that behave that way. Yes, everyone everywhere in the world should know everything about everything. We should know about every suicide victim, regardless of the circumstances and variables, and the world has no excuse not to!

Amanda Todd: Suicidal teen talked to her mother about death
Quote:
In a Monday interview with CKNW radio, Carol Todd, the teenager’s mother, said her daughter was very sad and had been hospitalized for her depression and anxiety, but had been able to talk about her feelings.
Todd, still expressing shock over her daughter’s suicide last Wednesday, said she and Amanda talked about how her death would make her tormenters and her parents sad.
“People come and go, and we talked about how it would make her family and friends feel worse for a long, long time. She understood that,” said Todd. “But with mental health — something didn’t click.”
|
Quote:
“She was really sad and she didn’t like how she felt; it overwhelmed her,” Todd said. “I wish it hadn’t happened, but now that it has, I hope this helps many others.”

Am I wrong to just hope the guys at Fraser Pre Trial pick up on it? perhaps one of the guards will accidently leave his charge sheet and a copy of the province out on the unit desk

They seem to be mentioning it with caution.

I find it's good for organizing events among groups of people. I find it's easier than e-mail. Really, I mostly use it for the chat function to keep up with friends that are in far away lands.
