Tigers have had some fortunate calls go their way in this series. We'll see if Yankees get any runs and whether or not that would have made a difference.

Wow. 6-0 STL in the 4th. SF has been bad at home in the playoffs. Tough outing for Bumgarner.

F'ing Lance Lynn.
Get that bum out of the game and off the roster for the play-offs. He had a great start to the season but has been awful since.

Holy cow - 4 runs from the bottom of the SF order. Did not expect that.

And they let it continue.
How is Lynn continuing to pitch after giving up a triple to Gregor Blanco?
That should be an easy ticket off the team.

Jim Hughson could learn from Joe Buck how to call a game for the old home team.

Cardinals win a game and Chris Carpenter wasn't pitching, I like the Cardinals chances moving forward.

Hello Yankees, my name is Justin Verlander.....
This is the best post-season ever, no off days at all? CC pitches a clincher and isnt available til game 4 or 5 of the next series? WTF -_-?
Remove a few off days in next years regular season, allow a few between series IMO, only the wildcards should be punished, not division winners.
Would like to see SF win it all, but they havent hit since Bonds retired, I think STL wins it all unless Verlander can go games 1,4,7 in the series.

The schedule is all messed up because MLB secured the tv dates before they added the wildcard playoff game.

Monday: St. Louis (Carpenter 0-2) at Giants (Vogelsong 14-9), 6:07 p.m.
Wednesday: Giants (Cain 16-5) at St. Louis (Lohse 16-3), 2:07 p.m.
Thursday: Giants (TBA) at St. Louis (Wainwright 14-13), 6:07 p.m.
Wednesday is an afternoon game? Boo.
I expect Lincecum will start Game 4.

F'ing Carpenter!
I am not shocked by Lynn sucking but Carpenter was supposed to be good.

SF should seriously consider starting only righties vs STL (and bench Bumgarner).

That "slide" by Holliday was disgraceful, there's going in cleats up, which is fine, but his only objective there was to crash into Scutaro hard. He shouldn't have seen another play in that game. Loved seeing him boot a dead simple play off of Scutaro's bat in the fourth. Regardless, it pumped up the Giants and they came through with the win. Hopefully Marco's good to go for Wednesday.

I thought the slide was only a little over the line. He had his arms up and nearly tackled Scutaro. I am a bit surprised that SF didn't throw at his enormous head later in the game.
http://www.sfgate.com/giants/article...es-3951312.php
X-rays were negative. Scutaro will undergo an MRI exam Tuesday morning before the Giants fly to St. Louis.
"I really think they got away with an illegal slide there," Bochy said. "He really didn't hit the dirt until he was past the bag. That rule was changed a while back. Marco was behind the bag and got smoked. It's a shame somebody got hurt because of this. He got hit pretty good, and that's a big guy running."
Giants players agreed with Bochy that Holliday's charge over the bag was late and uncalled for, but they stopped short of calling it dirty. They used the word "frustrated" more than "angry" and expressed more concern for their second baseman than enmity toward Holliday.
Holliday defended himself and expressed remorse at the same time.
"I'm not a dirty player," he said. "I was just trying to keep us out of the double play. I hope he's OK. He's a good guy. I told Buster to tell Marco I wish I started my slide earlier, and obviously I wasn't trying to hurt him."

Is it fun to be a Yankees fan?
* * *
Here is the problem with being a Yankees fan: You're cheering for Goldman Sachs. Like the folks at Goldman Sachs, the Yankees go through two cycles: They are either obscenely rich and extremely successful, or extremely rich and not quite as successful as they planned, forcing them to hold a conference call with reporters in which they apologize for "not meeting expectations," and then they resume being obscenely rich and successful.
There are benefits to cheering for Goldman Sachs. You don't feel embarrassed like Clippers fans or hopeless like Pirates fans. But it's a lot harder to fall in love. Whenever the Yankees win, they were supposed to win; they're the Yankees. And when they lose, they were supposed to win.

I thought the TSN guys were bad with Sherritt but this color guy for the Tigers game is getting a little unbearable with his Cabrera/Garcia love. I understand that Cabrera had a very good year but the way this guy is talking you would think he hit 1.000 with 200 HRs and 400 RBI's.
Not sure if it is Smoltz or Darling or both but hopefully after the DP they ramp down the Cabrera love affair.
