Agreed, especially considering the last 2 straight SB winners have been the #6 seed, and didn't qualify for a playoff spot until Week 17. Welcome to parity in a salary cap world. I love it!

Here is a really good article on Junior Seau, it's a little long, but well worth the time to read

Palmer has had exactly two decent seasons as a starting QB.

Also liked how you avoided the Sanchez and Leinart examples.
I woud say that McNabb had a better career than Palmer not sure why saying Palmer had had a fine career means you can't criticize other QBs for their faults.

As for not mentions Leinart and Sanchez every major college program has busts at the QB position. If teams avoid drafting guys because other guys from the program have failed then those teams are idiots.

At this point in time, I'm quite convinced that the NFC is pretty superior to the AFC in terms of strength of teams within the Conference. Basically I start to look at what teams have been in every game they've played so far this year.

Right now I still think the Patriots likely are the best team in the AFC, they have had a legitimate shot to win all the games they've been in. Essentially a missed field goal against Arizona, a pass interference call from replacement refs, and bad play calling/clock management at the end of the first half cost them the 4 cumulative points they've lost their 3 games by. But have the lost too many games to the point where they'll lose home field? Baltimore is strong as well, it will be a matter of what their team health looks like by the end of the year.

In the NFC, teams like Green Bay, Seattle, and the Giants have been within a TD drive at the end of the game to get them wins or losses. I think Seattle is a team who's probably given the most consistent effort week to week, but I don't know if I'd call a team with that offence the best in the conference.

Agreed, this is what's keeping me from labeling them as #1 in the conference as well. I know a dominating D can help carry a team, and even in this unprecedented offensive era, a strong D seems to win out over an explosive O in the playoffs a lot of the time (see Saints/Niners last year).

Despite that, I just can't help but look at the starting QB's for SB winners going back to '03: E. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, E. Manning, P. Manning, Roethsliberger, Brady, Brady.

--pretty telling, really. I don't care how good your D/run game is, come playoff time, if you don't have "it" at QB, its going to be extremely difficult to win out in this era.

Yeah, outside of Trent Dilfer, and Brad Johnson the list of Superbowl winning QB's from the last 20 or so years is pretty impressive.

Although...Russel Wilson has his doubters, and he hasn't been great in all games...I at least do think he might have the "it" factor in him. But he does have a lot to prove still.

Who knows though, the only rookie QB who didn't look good this week was Andrew Luck, and even in that game there were some plays that his receivers could have made.

Completely agree but the one thing that has stood out to me this year is that Defence wins games. Seattle, Arizona, Chicago have all looked good only because of their outstanding Defence. Will it be enough to win it all against a team that has shown flashes of brilliance on both sides of the ball, I don't think so.

SF and Houston look strong but the Giants seem like the scariest team to me. The have shown they can run and gun while at the same time putting up some stingy D. This year has been fun to watch.

All but confirmed Lardarius Webb and Ray Lewis are done for the season with a torn ACL and triceps tear, respectively. Losing Lardarius Webb is a severe blow. He was the playmaker on that defense. I feel horrible for Lardarius since he already tore his other ACL in 2010. At least they have depth at CB.

Seeing how the LB's played last year after Ray Lewis was hurt might not hurt as much as some people think it will. Then again I'm likely kidding myself in saying that. What a shame though if that was his last game, I will not forget him wallpapering Phillip Tanner before getting hurt on the next play after. Ironically enough Phillip Tanner was the one who hurt him on the next play.

Finally good news as Haloti Ngata has nothing but a minor MCL sprain. He should be good to go next week against Houston.

What an awesome picture. Brady was jawing about how the Seahawks could come talk to him after the Pats win, well they sure did...

I'm not really talking about USC as a whole producing poor NFL QBs, but certainly their QBs have been overrated in the Carroll and Kiffin eras. There are quite a few people who have been quietly mentioning Barkley's bust potential.

Do or die tonight for the Broncos. I guess we will see what 28M buys in the NFL these days.

Lose to the Chargers and kiss the post season goodbye!

Yeah the Bronco's should have just kept Teebow in hopes that he could surprise a few teams with some gimmick special teams plays.

If the Bronco's are using Teebow at QB with their schedule they go into tonights game with a 1-4 record at best and are essentially dead in the water.

You do know that Brady was the one talking trash all game and told Sherman and Thomas to talk to him after the game, right?

I think Leinart may have had more attitude/focus issues than actual talent issues that I am not sure are USC problems, but you may have something in terms of these QBs looking more attractive to pros based on the fact that these guys all fit the prototypical QB look (ie 6'4 225-ish), play in a pro system that doesn't pump up their stats and play for a big school, with success and against good competition. I could see how in a world of spread offenses and shotgun QB's that a traditional style QB like USC produces could end up looking better in scouts eyes than they actually are.

Not sure why Barkley would look like having bust potential but I do know that guys that stick around an extra year tend to get picked apart more than they often should.

Hopefully (for whoever picks him) Barkley lives up to his deserved lofty ranking.
