Just a heads up that the game on Tuesday will kickoff at 2:00pm Mountain. Weird. It's almost as if Concacaf doesn't want most of the continent to be able to watch it live.
It's the home team's decision. Honduras wants to put Canada in the heat.

Also now that FIFA and the refs have caught onto Suarez's diving, he and Uruguay are absolute rubbish now which is nice to see. Uruguay flopped in the Olympics and have now lost to Colombia and Argentina in WCQ 4-0 and 3-0 respectively (and drew Ecuador at home)
Since I was little, I've always had respect for Uruguay due to their tradition, small population and always fighting to the end. They were sort of like the Finland in hockey. I know England invented soccer, but Uruguay put the modern game on the world map nearly 100 years ago. But the last few years, the cheating and the diving have made them one of the more hated teams in the world which is a shame. Those players in the 1924 Olympics who brought artistry to soccer would be ashamed of the team now.

I saw something on Twitter about it also being due to having to have both games in the group played simultaneously. Not sure if there is any truth to it, and I'm not sure why it would only be required for the final matches of the round. If that is the case, then Honduras obviously has Concacaf's blessing with the unorthodox start time.
Ah well - no point making excuses - a win is what is needed whether it be hot, cold, day, night, etc.
From what I've read, Cuba has to play their game in the afternoon due to an energy conservation plan that prohibits them from playing at night. As others have already mentioned, FIFA wants group games being played simultaneously to avoid any shenanigans.
It looks like the pitch could be quite wet as they're expecting thunderstorms up to and including Tuesday afternoon in San Pedro Sula. 31 degrees is the expected high.
Would a soaked field help our chances? I tend to think it might work to Canada's advantage by slowing the game down a little bit. With that said, the humidity is going to be a bitch.

The Germany/Sweden game is going to be good. Germany having to make do without their primary striker, but as always, the Germans roll onwards.
Its not bad when your secondary striker is Miroslav Klose and when you have to pull him off hes typically replaced with either Toni Kroos or Marco Reus.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Cavallini is just the high energy player need to replace Occean. Smart move to add so he sees that the Canada mens team has plans for him, so Uruguay doesn't lure him away.
Man I hope Canada puts in a couple early, i just hate the tight games Canada plays in these past situations. Its tormenting to watch, hopefully they dictate the pace and get a cushion. Win, Tie and they are through. Don't play for the tie.
Canada arrived in Honduras’ second largest city by charter Sunday afternoon, their arrival pushed back after a delayed takeoff in Toronto. Armed police were awaiting their arrival. Police with machine guns have been stationed outside the team’s well-appointed hotel.

thats crazy isn't it. Talk about your outside intimidation. Hart better keep this squad away from everything. Some influence is liable to put the scare into them with death threats to throw the game.
At least at Honduras Stadium there is a track around the field to distance the crowd.

Arash Madani has been tweeting pictures of the stadium all morning. There IS a track around the field, but even still that is quite the intimate stadium

I was reading something about bags of urine being thrown on the field during previous matches.
Espinoza is still out for Honduras, that's huge. Also they don't have their keeper. The substitute keeper looked pretty shaky against Panama. He's really short.

So what are everyone's plans for this match? Skip work? Record it and avoid social media? Find a (ahem) stream online? Accept that you can't watch it and refresh twitter (and this thread) obsessively?
I am fortunate enough to have a Slingbox, so I'll be tuning in live from work. I am working extra hard to clear my schedule so that I can flip on the pre-game show at 1:30 and not have too much work to get in the way. Luckily I can get away with this every now and again at work. If I couldn't, I think that I'd be cashing in some banked time and take the afternoon off. It is that big.
If you're setting your PVR, be very careful that your guide has been updated to show the changes (it probably won't be) and/or consider setting a manual recording for the time and channel instead.
It's too bad about that Germany-Sweden, but I'd imagine that it will be shown on delay, although probably on Sportsnet World. But I'm a Canadian of English descent, so I can live with this arrangement.
