Short porch in Yankee stadium is such a joke. What an embarrassment of a ballpark

Girardi is out managing his counterparts by being smart enough to have a short memory.

Ibanez at home:
.273/.349/.545 14 Home Runs.
Road:
.208/.269/.365. 5 Home Runs.
It's criminal that they let them build Yankee Stadium like this

He was the biggest question mark for me in the post season. Last year he did the same thing, choked horribly.

@OldHossRadbourn Late-hour bombs from a Japanese fellow and a Cuban in my day were only ever the by-product of a two-front war defending the Monroe Doctrine.

Wow, Tigers go up by 1 in the 12th and Derek Jeter goes down on a routine play, and helped out of the game favoring his left leg.

Detroit wins 6-4, what a weird game. The Jeter loss could be huge.

Jeter's done, his leg looked like a 7-iron.

Yeah, that miss by Swisher could prove to be very costly for the Yankees. Granted, it was only a matter of time for Jeter, he's been playing on borrowed time for three games.

Does A-Rod finally get to play SS for the Yankees?

It's been what 8 years since he's played the position? But if they don't want to de-activate Jeter, they don't have much else for options. I think they knew Jeter wouldn't last, and left Nunez off the roster waiting for the ankle to finally give.

Joe Girardi just said in his presser Derek Jeter has a fractured ankle and is done for the season.
EDIT: He also said Eduardo Núñez would be activated and play SS, not Alex Rodriguez.

The Giants offence is always under-rated, because they play half their games at AT&T. Since the all-star break, SF was 2nd in the NL in AVG, 2nd in RBI, 1st in OBP, 4th in SLG, 4th in OPS, 3rd in runs. SF was first in runs, AVG and RBI for the whole season if you just look at away games.
I think the key will be if they can get a win out of Lincecum. He proved in the first round that he can be given a start. They are really missing Brian Wilson now.
STL has better power through the line-up. Playing at night in October reduces that edge somewhat. I would have preferred facing WAS. STL has more lives than 100 cats.

Anyone know what Girardi was ejected for? I'm not watching the game, and mlb.com game day doesn't give you much info.

2nd base umpire completely blew a call. Detroit player was out by two feet. Would have been the third out but inning was extended and Detroit has scored two more runs as a result. Girardi complained after first run was scored and got tossed.
