Yes. It was about 6 years ago though.

Hahaha I did that a few months ago. They told me to come up and sign the pre-approval, signed a bunch of forms, looked and it was an agreement to purchase. I did want to buy it though so I've got no useful input.

What'd you buy? Also, what are the embarrassing details you forgot to include?

^^ cooling-off period, I think it's called ( just watched "Glengarry Glenross" )

http://www.consumerhandbook.ca/en/to...cial/contracts

Quote:
In some provinces and territories, there is an automatic cancellation (cooling-off) period for contracts for items or services such as credit, dating clubs, health clubs, funeral and cemetery services, time-shares, natural gas, electricity and door-to-door sales, whether the company tells you about it or not. The cooling-off period, which varies by product and province or territory, is defined as a specific period of time in which you may reconsider your decision and cancel the contract, for any reason you like. Remember this applies only to certain kinds of contracts.

Well putting down a deposit would be a stupid mistake..I came in wanting a Nissan Xterra, i left with a Jeep Wrangler..I really just thought i was seeing if i could get approved for the price point of the Wrangler.. BUT i was not sure what i just agreed upon so i asked if this was final and they said no i can choose anything from the lot that i was approved for. SO I am assuming the sale is not final, i do not even know what my APR is and which bank the financing would be from, and for them to still say I can still choose a different car shows that the sale is not final..But i did put a deposit and sign a bill of sale.. can they still keep my deposit?

32. There is no “cooling off” period when you buy a vehicle in Alberta. Once you sign the contract you own the vehicle.

http://www.amvic.org/consumers_all_tips.cfm

Still do not know if the sale was final though..

It depends on whether or not she can scissor your head off.

What would possess you to sign a bill of sale and put a deposit down for:

1) a vehicle you hadn't chosen;
2) at a price that hasn't been negotiated; and
3) at an interest rate that hadn't been determined?

I can't even rip into the dealership with any gusto... This is almost entirely your fault.

Did the salesman also tell you he was the wallet inspector?

Yes i feel like a moron but thanks.

I didn't know it was a bill of sale. i thought it was strictly for financing and to see if i would qualify for that price

And i was told the deposit was mandatory and was fully refundable. and yes i didn't get that in writing,,

This sounds like that, "Get a deposit to prove you are serious before the salesman will do any work" issue that Pylon debated in a car thread a year or two ago.

Like clockwork on Sept 1 or the first full workweek of September, it jacks up dramatically, every year. This one has been over the top though.

The Deerfoot Extension relieved a lot of pressure when that came on board and it's been a pretty easy commute most of the time.

It was three lights to get through 162nd/McLeod at 6:30 a.m. today and it was about five or six lights at 7 a.m. last week.

Sidestreets can also be jammed as you move past 7 a.m.

I looked at the city's on-line construction map last week and there seemed to be something happening at Deerfoot/Marquis of Lorne (22X) so I'm not sure if that's the reason.

And yes, new subdivisions opening up next to MacLeod near 162nd, and in Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond and Turner Valley. More people.

Just a little strange that BAM!!!, right after Sept 1, traffic flow quite literally tripled. Someone threw a switch somewhere. Schools? Maybe. Or just construction somewhere else.

I work near Fish Creek Park so it's not a terrible bother but the first snowstorm is going to be even more of a gong show than it might otherwise be.

No sweat.

So I talked with a lady at work today, who lives in Dewinton, and she experiences the same problem. She mentioned that the lights for those travelling on Macleod at those southernmost intersections have been shorter and shorter over the last couple years, due to the traffic volume coming from the east and west. She said that today that she saw the walk signal went straight to a flashing hand at Shawnesay.

My guess, is that they changed those lights over the past month or so, and just when Sept hit the volume passed the critical point to create severe traffic problems.

Thanks. That makes a little sense.

They've had a cop car at the intersection of 162nd and MacLeod northbound the last few mornings - never happened before - handing out tickets to people who've been travelling the inside curb on MacLeod to get to the eastbound turn onto 162nd.

This has been a developing habit for lots of folks over the last year since the right turn lane should easily be a quarter mile further down the road to handle the volume coming off 22X/Marquis of Lorne necessary.

So, suddenly backed up traffic, more people trying that = cop cars trying to force people back into the road way.

I got up late today and parked aways from the office this a.m., walking the final five minutes it would have taken 20 minutes to drive.

Unless I start getting up at 5:30 a.m., the future is not looking good. Can't wait for the first snow storm!!!

Yea I travel from Shawnessy each morning into work and it has been brutal this month. They need to get rid of the lights at 129th or whatever that one is, Macloed is always backed up to there then it picks up afterwards. how many people actually need that light during rush hour, it should just stay green for like 10 minutes, anyone who needs to turn from southbound macleod onto lake fraser can just go a little further to canyon meadows drive.
Going up the bridge from Shawnessy to get onto northbound MacLeod is a stupid intersection also, and a short merge to boot.
