Rogers just offered me a "free" Galaxy S3 to renew (or I guess restart) my contract. I figured what the hell and said yes since I was only 13 months into a 3 year contract.
Instead of reading 250 posts, can someone with a Galaxy S3 summarize the pros and cons of this device?
I see these come across my desk at work from time to time, and personally the size is a bit excessive, but if it works for you then the screen real estate is pretty awesome. Nice and powerful phone, smooth operation and despite my limited experience with Android, I never have a problem setting these phones up as everything is in a logical place, coming from someone where the majority of my experience is BB and iPhone. I am sure someone will mention how you can root your phone to add x, y or z, but I know nothing about that, and consider it a bad thing.

well I currently have a Nexus S so I think my adjustment period should be pretty short
I was actually hoping they had Jellybean for the S3, but oh well

How did they offer this to you? Promotion? Did you ask?
Anyone ever unlocked one of these S3 phones? I might be getting one that is locked to Bell and would like to unlock it so it can work on Rogers or Telus as well.

They called me up and offered, I have been working midnights so the call woke me so I didn't think to ask too much. I just know that my contract has gone back to 3 years remaining and there is no other changes.
Since yesterday was the release of the new iPhone I have a feeling Samsung gave them some kind of deal to boost the sales so people didn't go out to get the iPhone

Can anyone share how the battery life is on this phone? I've read some good reviews but seems a lot of user reviews seem to indicate the battery life isn't great. Any thoughts?

I would say the battery life is "ok", but there are a variety of power manager apps out there that can extend the charge substantially.
I have one installed that essentially turns off all functionality at around 11pm and turns it back on at 7am. Then during my commute it turns off wifi and turns it back on when I get to work.
Even without power managers I can get a full day of heavy use out of my phone... also it helps that on ebay 3 batteries and a separate charger are a whole $10:
