October 4th it will be settled on the field in Salt Lake City. Utah needed the wake up call that Utah State gave them. Plus injuries will force Utah to change quarterbacks which isn't a bad thing. If the O-Line learns to block by Oct 4th it will be a good game. The entire Utah team was flat and somehow forced the game into overtime were the refs decided the game on a strange PI call and a non PI call. In the end it was a non-conference game that means very little right now.
Looked to me like USC sure let Syracuse hang around for three quarters plus we are two games into the season so we don't know a lot about any teams. Kiffin teams aren't the most disciplined and he doesn't have a whole lot of depth at some defensive positions. Highly unlikely, even with the talent USC has, that they go undefeated. Utah was one blocked field goal away from forcing last years game into overtime at USC.
If Utah State beats Wisconsin this week you will probably look at the Utah loss a little different. If Utah comes out unprepared again this week and drops a home game to BYU I am with you in thinking Utah is in trouble. Too early in the year for me to have a good read on any of the teams though.

Texas demolished New Mexico, but I still don't have confidence in David Ash as the QB against real competition. All his long completions were dink and dunks and he didn't have a completion where the ball actually traveled 15+ yards. QB is what is going to hold this otherwise ridiculously talented team back.

LSU plays Idaho in Baton Rouge this weekend. It could get ugly real quick. I'm putting the over/under of the Vandals crossing the 50 yard line at 2, and I'd probably take the under.

Notre Dame joins the ACC, except in football, where it will play 5 games a year against ACC teams...
Quote:
Notre Dame will join the Atlantic Coast Conference as a full member with the exception of football, but will play five football games annually against ACC teams.
"We have monitored the changing conference landscape for many months and have concluded that moving to the ACC is the best course of action for us," said Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame vice president and director of athletics, in a statement released by the conference. "We are able to maintain our historic independence in football, join in the ACC's non-BCS bowl package, and provide a new and extremely competitive home for our other sports."
The ACC scheduled a news conference for Wednesday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The ACC does not offer hockey, so it is presumed that Notre Dame will go through with its planned move to Hockey East in that sport.
The Irish will join the ACC as soon as it can exit the Big East. The Big East currently requires members to pay $5 million and to provide 27 months' notice to exit, although West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Syracuse were able to leave earlier by paying a higher exit fee.
Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey texted ESPN.com's Andy Katz, saying "we're going," and adding that while no timetable has been established for the move, he is excited about the challenge.
Notre Dame joins Syracuse and Pittsburgh in bolting the Big East for the ACC and will play traditional powers like Duke and North Carolina.
|
The ACC might not be a great football conference but is that ever one stacked basketball league.

I hate ND with a passion. Doesn't matter with their academic standards that they wont bend on they will never be relevant again. Good thing for them that they're close to Chicago and the people of that crappy city are use to losing and will take them into open arms.

It's not a Chicago thing, ND has fans all over the country due to being the only team televised nationally for years and the whole catholic thing.
And yes, #$*@ them!! Can't wait for Saturday night.

I am no Notre Dame fan but nobody should ever trash them for sticking to their academic standards, the fact that they are a big school and with the pressure they have to win are still able to stand by their standards makes me give them props.

One of the coolest things in college football is that there is always a washington state flag in the crowd on gameday, no matter where the show is.

Virginia Tech has always been a mystery to me in terms of how highly they're regarded in polls. They just never seem like anything special in my eyes. They're a good team, but definitely in the second tier imo.

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini left Saturday's game against Arkansas State by ambulance after falling ill on the sideline in the first half.
A member of the Nebraska medical staff was seen checking Pelini's pulse in the first half, but he continued on the sideline until halftime. Pelini didn't come out with the team for the third quarter.

Aloha High School running back Thomas Tyner ran for 644 yards to set an Oregon state record on Friday night.
Nationally, Tyner's feat is the all-time third-highest single game rushing total, according to the National High School Sports Record Book.
Tyner, an Oregon recruit, carried the ball 38 times and scored 10 touchdowns in Aloha's 84-63 win over Lakeridge, and he did it all on his 18th birthday.

Gonna be a lot of talk about the dominance of Alabama in this game, but man, that is a bad Arkansas team. That loss last week broke their back.

As much as I hate the Trojans, I hope they can come back here. I don't want them to lose until I can see it live on November 3.
