There was a post on reddit this morning about a girl who found out her boyfriend was cheating on her. She set his motorcycle on fire, do you support that behaviour? After all the cheater got what they deserved right?
|
Sure, I would support that behavior if it was her bike and she had won it and she was worried he would get half. Cause really that would the only way it would be the same.

Okay, so you called out everyone who commented as 'woman haters.'

No one is suggesting that this woman die in a fire (yet ) but rather celebrate that she doesnt get any money to which she is not entitled.

Wait, if you keep the money she gets half the money. If you spend it on stuff she gets half the stuff. So... how does this help?

I don't think a windfall won after separation would be considered matrimonial property in Alberta?

The woman haters comment was firmly tongue in cheek. I don't think everyone who comments in this thread hates women, nor do I support women who cheat on their husbands (which somehow my original post seem to suggest to some). What I am trying to say is that every time some guy sticks it to his cheating wife I don't need to see a thread celebrating it has some kind of win for men everywhere. Relationships are highly complex and major issues like infidelity are never black and white.

I'm certain that it would not be in most if not all of the US. Unless the UK laws are different, he may have spent all of that money for nothing.

Fair enough, and I wholeheartedly agree that relationships are complex and cheating makes them endlessly moreso and they're not clear cut cases of victim/perpetrator.
I dont see it as a 'win for men everywhere' I see it as a win for people, male or female, who have been the victims of this type of thing in the past, and by that I mean cheating or messy divorce. If they're still hurt, I can understand that, that kind of thing sticks with you.
Its not a 'he-man' or 'anti-woman' thing, its a relationship thing.

Well, he paid his debts, bought toys for his kids and invested in an education. He seems like an intelligent individual. Much larger fortunes have been 'wasted' far less intelligently.

That's what I was getting at. Does he still owe her?
In the quote from the story, I don't know if "adjourning" means everyone went for lunch and a chat or if it means outright dismissal of her claim.
I heard of another guy who spent everything they had BEFORE separation/divorce on sporting equipment, etc, things she would never want/need, hoping to escape that way with things she'd just let him keep without valuing them. Not sure how that worked out for him.
Just an interesting legal riddle.

Yeah, sounds like the guy spent the money in a pretty logical and smart way. He could've easily just blown it on a new Jag and called it a day. In a some ways, he actually saved his ex-wife money....since I assume she too would've been responsible for some of that debt.

I don't know about that. Based on the videos that I've seen online, when women cheat on their husbands, it's almost always black and white.

Just wait 'til WeiserWonder finds this thread. He had a beauty yesterday (I think) in some thread that had something to do with women. It was completely random and emotional and there reall ywasn't anything bad being said in the thread when he posted it.

This was it, from the thread about the transgendered dude getting a sex change in jail or whatever.

It's awesome, he just instinctivly throws those over the top, extreme emotional reponses out all the time, now.
The weird thing is, he posted here for years, and as far as I know, he never used to get uppity about that kind of stuff. It's like one day he just read a thread and has been on a crusade ever since. Because as far back as I can remember, there's been demeaning posts to women on CP, most of it tounge in cheek, some of it serious. But it's not like it's a new thing.
