Diablo III - New patch 2.1 Coming Aug 26

I loved this game at first, but I think this is also the quickest that I became sick of a game considering how much I loved it at first. I made it to Act 2 Inferno, and just can't bother any more. I wish it had the same feel as the 1st Diablo game.

I feel like the game is an auction house first and a game second, and the whole point is to grind for gear that will eventually be sold and purchased on the real money acution, thus making Blizz more cash.... because lord knows I never get drops that are useful to the class that I use (and by the sounds of it, that is a regualr theme). Not to mentioned that the difficulty ramps up so quickly in Inferno, that it makes it nearly impossible to gradually gear for it simply using random drops.

Does anyone actually have fun grinding and farming for things, or is is just playing into the obsessive/compulsive part of your brain? For me, it was definitely the latter so I had to stop.

I think I'm one of the very few people in this game who has logged quite a bit of time into the game, but have done very little farming. Basically I played wicked amounts when I first got it to get my wiz to Lv 60. Since then, I've maybe put in maybe 4-5 hours of my life into Inferno. I've been playing super casually, logging in maybe an hour a day, slowly levelling up the other classes. I almost quit doing that about 2 weeks ago, but then patch 1.04 got me back into it a little (got my barb from lv 54 to lv 56 since patch day lol). Plus at those levels, AH stuff is dirt cheap, so I've barely spent 1,000,000 gold (not even sure if I've spent that), but somehow have accummulated 6 mil over time lol.

Anyway it keeps me amused for an hour every weekday (I don't even really play on weekends), so I still enjoy the game. I've gotta be the most casual D3 player around lol.

So I did start up again on tuesday. Since then I have been wheeling and dealing and this is what I have so far.

Any Advice for simple cheap maybe upgrades? I seem to be handling Act 2 pretty decently, just did all of the ZK quest with only a few deaths to certain elites/champs. The Offhand gives me some LOH plus it is almost as good as most 750+dps weapons.

Most obvious thing is gems in your weapons.

500k total cost (depending on AH price on tomes) each for 70% gems, each of your current gems counts for come of that (80k each I think).

this is very similar to how I am approaching the game right now. It's nice since whenever a character hits a wall I just switch and by then I usually have found a bunch of solid gear for another character. Rather than trading with the AH seems like I am trading with myself for whatever I find. I've essentially stopped getting rid of any uniques unless none of my chars can use it.

So the 70% what would that increase the most? How much extra damage?

Hw much actual damage depends on your crit chance and build. It's just the most obvious upgrade for me, a non-monk, to suggest.

As you would go from 275% (crit) to 295% by upgrading one weapon to a star emerald, and then 295% to 315% by upgrading the second to a star emerald, you should see some definite increases in your damage. Likewise you would see gains in damage and dodge by doing the same with your other socketted items by increasing your dex.

As you collect emeralds and tombs, just keep combining them and moving up the ladder. Basically costs you very little that way (just the gold to combine them).

If you have the sockets, use them! Upgrade your gems as you can afford to do so. It is a nice boost.

And to Flame of Liberty, I forgot to thank you about the life steal nerf you mentioned before. You are bang on. That was one of the first nerfs that happened and is definitely a factor in Photon's scenario.

As for Photon... you want some gear, or no? PM me, otherwise I am going to vendor it! LOL.

Does anyone know of a way to look at stuff on the AH and see its improvements over the gear you are currently wearing?

My last decent purchase didn't have as great of a boost as I expected when I purchased it. I figure with the profiles available that there has go to be some sort of site that will allow you to figure that out?

Thanks for the recommendations folks. I Feel like my character is on the verge of farming A3 with minimal deaths or problems, but I am just short of it. I can handle A2 very easily and wondering if i should push it or not haha.

I got my biggest payday ever in D3. Found a new IK helm with 78 all resist, sold it for 125 million before AH cut. The guy that bought it immediately reposted it for 175 million, which seems incredibly risky to me. Even if he sells it for that, he's only going to net 24 million after the cut, and I have my doubts that he'll be able to get that. It only has 95 strength vs. over 180 for many of them up there. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'll take my 125 million now over maybe 175 later, but maybe he sits on it for a while and sells it for less.

My god... my entire net worth is probably about 10 mil. 8 mil in cash, and maybe 2 mil worth of gear over my 5 classes. That sale is 12x worth my entire value lol.

It's okay... I've finally picked my barb as my main... as soon as she hits 60 and starts working through Inferno, maybe I can double my net worth with a couple of sales, bringing that down to only 6x my worth lol.

Extremely difficult to sell loot now because people can filter ALL stats they want, stuff that doesnt have every category will not sell because it will be filtered out AND because everyone managed to get mediocre gear by now. You either sell big or you vendor.

I miss the old 3 filters only system, you could stumble upon good items that people missed because they couldnt filter more than 3 stats...Now all good items are pinpointed and auctions never go below 10M.

Last night my buddy randomly gave me this nice 2-handed axe before we logged off. 1039-1548 Damage that gives 5450 Life per kill. I think I'll be able to blow through Act I Inferno with this thing. Can't wait to bust it out tonight!
