Apparently the bad guy shot his intended target but the police shot the 8 others in the process of trying to hit the bad guy.

Actually I think 9 others were hit.

If the reports of 14 shots fired and 4 bullets struck and killed the gunman does this mean the cops still get an 93% accuracy rate?

Yup, that's what I heard on news too.

Gunman's (only) gun had 7 rounds. 5 went into the intended victim, one fell out when police grabbed the gun and the final one was still in the gun.

New York has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US.

Obviously not strict enough, I think it's just NYC with the strict laws so for a 60 minute drive away you could be in gun heaven.

In this case I can't rant though as this crime could happen anywhere.

I think America is under a lot of stress and many have given up hope. This guy lost his job and saw his life was over. He took it out on the man who he blamed. The guy in Colorado withdrew into a fantasy world where he was Joker. Both felt powerless in their circumstances and used a gun to gain power back, even for a fleeting moment.

^A perfect example that guns in theatres and schools do not prevent more deaths.

If this happens when trained people do these what about the untrained with an even more deadly weapon.

In the surveillance video posted a few threads up, the whole video is 16 seconds with only about 10 seconds of it being a shoot out. It looks to be in real time or very close. The suspect is also only about 10-15 feet away.

Scary that trained police officers in such a short period of time within a close distance can hit that many bystanders with stray bullets.

In all of the US or is it dependent state by state regarding concealed weapons? I used to live in NYC and no clue about gun laws there or anywhere in the US.
