Agreed - you don't have to like them, but they are good at what they do.
(and if I could make millions played open C and dropped-C tuned guitars...well....)

That is where my music hatred lies, not with a band that at least tries to play instruments and sing without auto-tune. I'd like to see any of those people I've listed sing a live show without lip syncing.
I can't believe how much hit radio stations have changed over the last 10 years.

Well, I suppose so.
But I think it's odd how this world has gone from listening to music you'd heard on the Warped Tour to listening to completely artificial stuff you'd hear at a night club - all while inside your car.
That I don't get.

You know what's funny? This will be the marriage of a "counter culture rocker chick" (whatever that means), to a guy who admits that he created his "rock" songs by studying the songs on the charts and figuring out what makes them hits.
If this doesn't meet the definition of irony, I don't know what does.

Avril Lavigne is most definitely talented. It's really too bad she has insisted on going with her stupid I don't even know what it is look. If she was smart (I get the feeling she is dumb as rocks but who knows) she would dump the cheesy clothes, go with minimal makeup, and start making some good music.

I'll just leave this here.

I'm probably in the minority but I like both of them. Avril Lavigne especially is pretty talented.
I know people hate nickleback and Chad Kroeger, and they're really not the type of music I listen to but I think they're talented as well.
We should be attacking idiots like lil wayne and Nicki Manaj.

I agree with most of what you said, but despite her musical taste, Lada Gaga is actually a great musician and vocalist.

I've always wondered if we could draw parallels here with Madonna - talent exists, but the use of eccentricity to leapfrog into the spotlight overshadows it.

Admittedly, Lil Wayne is a sell out (and I'm not a fan), but he is also a hugely prodigious, influential, and talented MC and producer. Comparing him to Nickleback and Avril Lavigne is terribly misguided.

Definitely talented. Definitely dumb as rocks.
She did an absolutely BEAUTIFUL cover of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". She does have a good voice. But I remember seeing her on Much about a decade ago where she was at MooShoes in New York (mooshoes.com) and buying new boots. So they were asking her why she was a vegetarian and she responded that it was for health reasons alone. She said "it was better to have a low-fat, no-meat diet to stay healthy". Okay. I guess I can buy that. But then why are you at MooShoes? Is it healthier to wear man-made boots? I've not heard of getting cancer from leather boots. And just about any other context I probably wouldn't have remembered it 10 years later, but it just seemed so dumb to be being interviewed inside Mooshoes, KNOWING THAT MUCH IS GOING TO ASK ABOUT WHY SHE IS AT THIS PARTICULAR STORE, and that was the answer she came up with. Oi.
I remember during the Olympics how many people saying how she looked so much better without the dyed hair and makeup:

Yep, they're still doing well. When Dave Baksh left the band, they lost a lot of the creative guitar writing, but still put out solid music.
They had Tom Thacker, lead singer of canadian punk band Gob as a touring guitarist, but have since added him as the full time lead guitarist/back up vocals. So that definitly adds some guitar talent back into the band.

Can't we just let this couple be? Why y'all have to go and make things so complicated?
Avril was cute back in the day, but I've moved on to Carly Rae Jepsen. Also most recently, I was introduced to Cher Lloyd. #girlishgrunt

Give Chad Kroeger credit. He basically did the whole Moneyball thing, except with pop music. He found a formula that the average joe likes to listen to and made millions and millions off of it. He may not have much technical musical talent, but the man has a talent for utilizing his skillset to make a ton of money.

He's actually a really good guitar player, he just doesn't use his skill because he focuses on creating catchy tunes, like you mentioned.
