I assume that now with a medal, that Christine Sinclair has to be the flag bearer.

Let em all do it. Pass the flag around like one would the Stanley Cup.

Until the goal, Matheson was pretty useless too. Just a bad performance from the midfield.

Not the best game, but that was all karma. I loved the celebration by the team. Passing the flag around. Matheson is now a star.

More than anything this should be an outstanding building block towards the 2015 World Cup. The ladies have so much to be proud of and so much to look forward to.

Got to the office, turned on the TV, saw Canada being badly outplayed for most of the second half and then the goal . . . . . .

And it wasn't even 8 a.m. yet!!!

Inspiring way to start the day to say the least.

Congrats to Canada's plucky womens soccer team.

John Herdman needs a big fat raise. He took a team that was in shambles after the 2011 World Cup and made them world beaters. I think the success of the team can be attributed to his ability to prepare them for the game much better than his predecessor.

Very proud of the ladies! Now for Japan to win gold!

Wow did we get lucky. France was all over us for the bit i watched. They actually broadcasted it on the FAN960.

Best news of all.. We don't have to watch womens' soccer for another 4 years!

That how soccer is

In a low-scoring sport it's about breakthroughs and all the possession in the world doesn't matter unless that breakthrough comes.

It's not like basketball where the Dream Team seems unstopable. A dream in soccer could still be forced into a 0-0 statemate with organized defense and a bit of luck.
