Boxing, almost as bad as women's soccer.

#####! Everytime I want to like Olympic boxing I'm reminded why I don't.
Clayton won two rounds. Not only that, the score shouldn't have been level because the ref failed to take a point from Evans.
Disgusting, blatant result. I hope the Canadians protest.

Absolute BS. If he won the 2nd by 3 then he won the third by >3.
Wonder if they were right about the same warning x 3. If so could lead to an overturned decision,

I've been watching boxing for 15 years and these Olympics have been an absolute joke. I don't get how inconsistent these refs can be?

Boxing is a joke without the Olympics, the Olympics just magnify what a joke of a sport it is. And this is from someone who loves boxing.

There is no way Clayton lost that fight. Completely dominated in the 3rd round. Not only that, even if they are tied after 3, how can you win 2 out of 3 rounds and lose?! Makes no ####ing sense.

I am starting to agree with that medal count taken by the US that the reffed/judged sports should be taken with a grain of salt. That's three times in 24 hours you could argue Canada was hit unfavorably with bad judging (soccer, synchronized swimming, and now boxing).

Virtually every sport has some sort of judge or referee. Even the swimming events have judges to ensure that the swimmers stay within the rules of the particular stroke they are using.
Speaking of which a swimmer admitted to cheating for that exact thing, not following the rules of his stroke and he won gold. Remains to be seen if he'll get in trouble for it.

BBC Three summariser Amir Khan on Fred Evans' win: "Winning by countback is always close. But I think he won because he was the braver fighter and the most pressurizing fighter in the first two rounds. He slowed down in the third but he has to work on that. The first two rounds he was coming forward, using his jab and hitting him with some powerful shots. It was a brilliant fight."
|
FU Khan. Evans fought so brilliantly in the 2nd round that's why he lost it 6-3.

I think the reason we like the Winter Olympics more is there are a lot fewer judging sports compared to the summer (really Figure Skating and Freestyle Skiing are about it). Judging sports simply produce too many questionable results, espescially when governed by an insanely corrupt body like the IOC.

Come on, that's completely different and you know it. Making sure a race has a clean/fair start and that the racers stay within the race lines is completely different than judged sports. In those sports the ref or judge can not take sides and start disqualifying competitors or take time off whoever he wants. While in many of the judged sports it seems either they have a bias coming in, or they just no idea how to perform their job to begin with.
In the non-judged events you know whoever deserves to win, will win. In many of these judged sports it seems that questionable calls are made way more often than they should.

But how can you include soccer? It is hardly a "judged sport". Judged sports to me are ones that rely solely on a judge to rank the competitors based on a somewhat arbitrary classification of difficulty.
Then you've got your referreed sports. Hockey, bball, soccer.
Then you've got your sports that are judged but not quite as actively, track, swimming etc.
But no matter which category, an incompetent or crooked judge/ref can and frequently do effect the outcome.
