NBC better hire Samuel L. for the next Olympics. He'd liven things up a bit.

I just don't understand how stupid these guys are. Everybody knows anybody or everyone in the world who have access to Internet or have Tweeter account can read stuff you publish. Do they think only his friends can see what he tweets. What a moron!

Bust out the Whambulance....
Quote:
China's state media launched attacks Thursday on what it said were arrogant and prejudice views of the country's athletes at the London Olympics.
After several days where Chinese competitors have been in the spotlight for winning golds, and drawing questions about doping and ethics, the official Xinhua News Agency and the People's Daily both accused the "Western media" of making up stories.
"By doing so, the Western writers have demonstrated an arrogance and prejudice against Chinese athletes that has ignited widespread criticism from all around the world," Xinhua said in a commentary.
Chinese media, which is all state-run, and the public have been upset at by allegations that 16-year-old swimmer Ye Shiwen may be using drugs because of the ease with which she has won two gold medals.
It said Ye has passed numerous drug tests, but "some Western media still turned a blind eye to the test results and continued to show their stubbornness and arrogance."
The People's Daily - the newspaper of the ruling Communist Party - said in a commentary published on its website that criticism of Ye was part of a campaign to discredit China's sporting achievements.
Deeply rooted prejudices lead some Western media into blind ignorance," the paper said.
"Attempts to discredit Chinese athletes and disturb their performance are miscalculated. These shady movements will not affect the morale of Chinese athletes," it said.
China often uses blanket charges that the "Western media" does not understand the country or is biased to dismiss reports it feels are critical or unfair.
"It is irresponsible for the Western media to pour filth on Chinese athletes who won because of hard training and years of arduous preparation," Xinhua said.
China is also under the spotlight after its women's badminton pair of Yu Yang And Wang Xiaoli was one of four doubles teams disqualified for poor play - apparently on purpose - to secure a more favorable position in the next round.
The feeble play was obvious to fans who watched the matches and jeered the competitors.
Xinhua said the Western media has to adjust to the fact China is a major economic and sports power.

This is complete bush! The Badminton Federation should really throw the book at them - could you imagine if you bought a ticket to see that?

As if Sweden hockey team didn't tank a game in the 06 Olympics to get a better opponent. Happens all the time in sports with group rounds. The thing is that the athletes didn't want to go from single elimination to group stages because its happened in the past.
Its nice to see the IOC to have the balls to punish cheating, but they definitely screwed up going to group stages to begin with.

I actually agree that there is something to the prejudice take, but then why aren't Japanese or South Korean or even North Korean athletes being accused of similar things? I think with China there's many reasons to be suspicious, namely some of the controversies they've had in the past.

Probably because Japan and South Korea are not starting to challenge the established World powers and beating them at their own games.

I can't remember the game but were they shooting pucks into the crowd on breakaways and 2 on 1s?
At least be a little discrete! that was just pathetic. I'm hoping for a lifetime ban on all 8 of them for being stoopid.

1992 hockey. Canada, already having clinched 1st, let the Russians win the final round-robin game 5-4 so that they would finish 2nd and not meet until the final... which the Russians won 3-0

Not sure if it was posted or not but the Korean fencer who got screwed out of a medal was the result of the them using a 15 year old volunteer???! seriously??!
http://www.sportsgrid.com/media/fenc...ld-timekeeper/
The Korean team believes the situation resulted from poor management by the referee and timekeeper. Kim Chang-gon, an FIE referee, said, “I checked after the game that it was a 15-year-old British volunteer girl who was doing the timekeeping

It's still not the timekeeper's fault, it's the refs fault for not realizing or admitting the timing error.

China has a deep-rooted culture in cheating however, Australia does not. Just look at their business models over there, everything is ripped off without a second thought....it's cultural, not just sports related. That and the fact they have a long an established history of systematic doping when it comes to swimming. They were the East Germany of the 90s.
So yeah, it's a deep rooted prejudice. But it's their own damn fault.

The better question of course is how the hell does she even know? Does he tell her? Is he still living at home?
