hmm, I see, it looks like that 24k number is the increase from monday of last year, not cumulative

I just saw on CBC.ca that they'll be bringing the bilingual anthem back. This is quite a stupid "controversy."

Well played Calgary Herald. Now that the Stampede has reversed this, either:
A) People will be more pissed, complain like hell and this will truly turn into an actual story (even if it's still nothing)
B) The Herald can take credit for helping resolve this "injustice"

Now, people will just start booing the French portion, which will piss off even more people.

I can't imagine Calgarians booing our national anthem, no matter what the language. That'd be pretty disappointing.

No record for Tuesday. I guess TTC was right.
Quote:
Attendance results for Tuesday, July 10 – day five of the Calgary Stampede
Stampede attendance for Tuesday, July 10, 2012: 121,548
Same day for 2011: 96,027
Previous record same day attendance was set in 1991: 127,471
Cumulative attendance for 2012: 692,246
Cumulative attendance for 2011: 559,960
Overall cumulative attendance increase of: 132,286

Oh, and they didn't get rid of the French from the anthem because people complained about the French. People complained about the original "non-traditional" arrangement of the anthem, so they hurriedly recorded a new version for use on Saturday that used a traditional arrangement, and was English-only.
It was only a coincidence that they re-recorded the bilingual anthem on the same day that the Herald made a stink about it. It was in their plan all along.

Haha but give the Sun the credit that sleazeball rag deserves. Already trying to explode this into a massive controversy with their coverage of it today. It would be pathetic if it wasn't so predictable. Bumped to page 3 on the Herald strangely.

Man, it must suck working as a columnist for the Sun. What an awful existence to go through life constantly angry at the smallest, most inconsequential things.

And yet, it was the Herald that manufactured this controversy. Truthfully, neither paper is any better or worse than the other.

This was like a tag-team effort by the Herald and Sun. The Herald started it, the Sun will grow it and the Herald can then come back to overcovering it too. Newsprint is a dying breed, might as well work together to stay alive.

Up until yesterday I had been out every night since last Thursday. Got home around 8:00pm yesterday and passed right out, barely got my boots off. Feel like a million bucks today as result. Round Up tonight! I have a wrist band to a tent and am ready for good times.

Wildhorse Saloon stinks like puke and sewage. At least with all the fans, it was cooler than outside, and Sloan did two great sets and an encore.

LRT commuters freaking out on twitter this morning about all the people on the train going to the grounds. What do they expect on freakin' kids day?
It's the Stampede, just deal with it or take your holidays.

I wish I had been able to catch that show! I've seen them a couple of times and they are so good live. Both times they put on a great show.
