Has anyone tried walk up 11am tickets for the grounds?
I heard you can walk up and they will release a select amount of tickets at 11am for that day for admission to the rodeo.
Anyone know what type of seat that gives you? I assume standing room only?

Just came back from a vendor party at Craft Beer Market. Man is that place packed! The heat has caused a lot of ladies to wear less - very nice.

There is a limited amount of rush seating...lower deck way over on the sides...as well as standing on the tarmac.

I guess you're suppose to visit www.fitforchange.ca and watch the youtube video to learn the dance.
But honestly this level of organization seems like the exact opposite of a "flash mob". I can only assume with the tickets & what not the Stampede is in on this, and will be playing the appropriate song and the appropriate time... so not really spontaneous.
Then again my whole opinion on flash mobs is pretty much "it was kinda cool... the first time", better suited to youtube videos than real life. And even then, 1 youtube video was enough.

BREAKING NEWS:
Stampede drops French verses from National anthem at grandstand show
http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/ca...030/story.html
My view, "yawn". Plus, I would like confirmation that the anthem is sung in both English and French at the Carnival in Quebec City. I'm also guessing the media needs something controversial because enough horses and such haven't died (have there even been any yet?).
Another thought, when the Habs are in town is the anthem in both languages? I'm assuming no (haven't been to a habs game in forever).

^ Exactly. I'll file this under "minor things that nobody noticed/cared about until the newspaper told them they should."
That's the thing about living in a bilingual country: sometimes it is in English, sometimes it is in French, and sometimes both. And everyone just sings along in their language of choice. A huge non-issue of you ask me.

Posting that story almost seems like trolling by the Herald. I know its a slow news week but this is about as much of a non-story as a non-story gets. If this event were run by the Government of Canada then maybe this might be a story.

Yeah, pretty much trolling with that story. Kind of sad, considering one of our own posters here asked one of their writers why no looking into the whole $37M Devonian restoration, and were pretty much just tossed aside. The same media that had no problem writing god knows how many articles on the Peace bridge.
I don't understand the media.

Unfortuantely, yes. Heather Liscano sang the bilingual version when Montreal was here last season. Probably a concession to how the Habs spoiled their diaper the year before when Paul Brandt sang the anthem unilingual English at the Heritage Classic.

The worst part is scrolling down into the intellectual wasteland of the comments section and seeing all of the people who fell for the Herald's attention grab. The only dissenting opinions in the article are from two people that the Herald tracked down on the grounds and got quotes from, which were fairly tame at best, yet people are letting loose on Quebec like the whole province is up in arms at Calgary. Is it really that hard to tell when a newspaper is whipping up a controversy on a slow news day?
Anyway - back on topic (sort of). Hitting the grounds tonight with my wife. Of course I picked the hottest, sweatiest day to come, but we're having my sister babysit so we'll take the opportunity when we get it.

They set another attendance record yesterday. The previous Monday record was set 21 years ago, in 1991.
So far, sneak-a-peak and Saturday are the only two days where a daily record wasn't broken.

I wouldn't get too excited. According to TurnedtheCorner, we've seen a the best, and now attendance will falter and fall into the same average, as the same old people go to the same old event.
The party's over folks. This year, everyone decided to go to the first few days like crazy, and get it out of their system, so now there won't be anyone left to go to the remaining days.

I think they are talking about the record cumulative to date there, so 24,384 might be the correct figure. 106,480 ahead of last year, and 24,384 ahead of the record year?
