Funny how every player becomes "crap" after they have been traded. Not sure why anyone would listen to fans on a message board .

In fairness, I did check out the letsgowings forum and they had the same opinion before he left. The thought there is that his production was pretty much the work of his linemates and that he wasn't worth the $4 million he wanted.

Yea basically that he was carried by he line mates he doesn't do good work on the boards he is lazy some claimed. He is pass first mentality so that might drive s crazy like Tanguay a few yrs back. They don't think he is worth that money. If he is feeding Bart passes though that can't be a bad thing.

Is this the same fan base that was excited when he came back from the KHL?

I also checked Letsgowings. Some posters felt he didn't have a good work ethic and he was inconsistent.
But who knows really. I think a lot of posters are pissed off at him because he left the Wings two years ago to play in the KHL.
Also lots of comments hoping that Calgary has lots of hookers?

I think if we finish higher in the standings then the Wings and Hudler is a productive part of that its really a no brainer. They have been spoiled with great players and teams, and while I'm sure they have watched him play quite a bit they just might regret letting him go. He may have been a product of linemates but he equally may have been overshadowed by them as well.

Also 23 of his 25 goals were even strength and he was only averaging 2 minutes per game on the PP. I assume that PP time will go up here in Calgary and he won't be stuck on the point.

Meh. For some reason I have a really good feeling about Hudler... like that he's really going to take off under a new system with added responsibility. I expect the Flames will fully unleash his offensive skill, which could arguably be the best on the team as it currently stands.

My buddy is a hardcore Wings fan, and has had seasons tickets for the last 3 years.
He sent me a text of laughter when it was announced that Feaster had signed Hudler for 4 years at a 4 mil cap hit, and acted happy that the Wings didn't re-sign him.
When I asked him why, he said the same thing that was echoed here, product of his linemates, and that he was a lazy player. He also told me that Hudler has been a healthy scratch multiple of times over the last couple of years, but I see he played 81 games last season, so maybe he his is just bitter that they lost Jiri.
I believe I read somewhere that Holland wanted to re-sign him at a 3 mil cap hit, which is a better omen than the Redwings not being interested in him at all.

As has been said before, the experts laughed at the Flames when Sutter signed Jokinen and Tanguay two years ago; and they thought the Bouwmeester signing was a great coup three years ago.
