Nope, he can go to Abbotsford this season. He could've even joined the Heat this post-season if his team didn't go as far as they did in the playoffs.
From my understanding, I think Steinberg's sort of just expressing his opinion. I get what he's saying, but I can't see Baertschi not making the team this season. Obviously, he's no God like Justin Schultz is, so he'll have to actually EARN his way onto the lineup, but he's one of the most NHL ready prospects in the NHL.

I heavily encourage you to listen to a Heat radio broadcast one night just for sh*ts and giggles.
Ryan Pinder, while he's an awesome Heat fan and loves the team and is a great person, has zero emotion on the mic. At least Kerr shows excitement. I gotta appreciate that.

See, I have absolutely no problem with Kerr. I don't get alot of the hate for him. Obviously, I'd rather have Loubardias over anyone, but Kerr does the job.

I agree, I personally read the signings as having insurance in case Baertschi, Cervenka and Backlund aren't ready to contribute solid offensive numbers.

In Feaster's interview with the Fan960 today, he said:
"We have started to get young players in the lineup. And we have drafted better. And we do have a young guy -- who we took 13th overall last year who's knocking on the door -- we believe will make our hockey club out of training camp this year."

Bärtchi is a high octane offensive forward, but smallish. Considering the lack of competition he could easily be top 6 in team scoring. You put guys like with other scoring forwards, not into an energy line. Top rookies are top 6 on many teams, even good ones.
And no, we don't have the depth to roll three scoring lines.

Bob Hartley played Tanguay with Joe Sakic his rookie season. Would not be surprised to see Bartschi in the top 6, and getting ice time with Iginla

At the STH lunch a few weeks ago, he also said that right now Sven has a spot on the opening night roster and would have to play his way off the Flames in Training Camp, which he doesn't anticipate happening.

the STH meeting was prior to Hartley's hiring right? Hartley may have changed his mind about handing a kid a spot after a few games.

No. He had already been hired.

Also in response to the video i really wish i had better clips (with replay and different angles) but those are the best i could find. Kerr was prety darn annoying in that third clip though which is why i thought i could find a Coyotes feed video. Still fine with the way it came out.

You're still the only one on youtube to have made it, so we are eternally grateful.
NHLVideo doesn't give much in terms of replays.

I seriously doubt that Baertschi starts in the top 6. He may work his way up there due to other players ahead of him either injured or slumping, but I think the 3rd line is just fine, especially if Backlund is on it.
Backlund drives possession (according to advanced stats) and Backlund DOES have some skill, though his numbers are less than admirable. Just makes sense to start off Baertschi there.
I don't think you slot him ahead of Tanguay or Glencross. If he is lights-out, then sure, he will surpass them (only a matter of time I would assume if his development goes well), but there is nothing wrong with having him play on the 3rd line. Just keep him off the 4th line please!! I really believe that Backlund should have been back on the Heat rather than playing those 4th line minutes.
It will be exciting to see Baertschi next season. I am personally keeping an open mind, and won't be disappointed if he only hits 35-40 points, though it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he racks up a good 50+.
I think Cervenka will actually do better than Baertschi - Flames did get him to play in the top 6 - so barring some additional moves and/or Cervenka being a huge disappointment, I would figure he should surpass Baertschi in points this season. Will be very interesting to see how they both develop, and how they finish statistically at the end of the season.
I would have rather had Moss on that 3rd line over Stempniak - better in the corners to dig the puck out, but maybe Baertschi will be feeding Stempniak too. Good place for Stempniak to be in, I would assume - Baertschi and Backlund are probably 2 of the better 4 or 5 passers on the team.
One thing I also sort of consider - Brodie may be out there when that line is on quite a lot. I really think he is the Flames' best passing defencemen. Will make for an interesting time on the ice - all are pretty quick, and great passers. Should be enjoyable to watch anyways.

Sven has to play next year. He is our prospect. We have to give him a chance to succeed. Top 6 minutes if not with Jarome to maximize the potential to be successful.

If he doesn't play... I honestly don't know.
It would be utter stupidity.
What more does he have to prove in the dub?
