Finished it today. I managed to cut 8 minutes off my last years time (thanks to a new bike bought for me by my husband) I also made the second fastest swim, 20th place in the women's division and I shaved 2 minutes off my 5 km run from last year.

Pretty satisfied, but now it's only half way through April and both my goals have been completed!
New goal: medal placings, couple of more provincial records and possibly a national record at the Canadian Pool Lifesaving Championships in June.

That's wicked, good for you. That's an awesome swim time!
I did the race today too, and was pretty happy with how I did.
Man was I glad we got to do the full race. When I woke up this morning and saw the snow, I was worried they'd turn it into a stupid indoor duathlon.
Congrats for a good race!

I agree that swim time at least to a crappy swimmer seems fantastic. My friend wanted to do a relay team for that tri but nothing ever came of it. Seems like it might have a been a tad chilly for the start of the bike after swimming.
For that tri is it a continuous tri with transitions or is it split into 3 parts?

It was continuous with transitions, and boy were the transitions long with with the inclement weather and all.

In case it hasn't been mentioned yet, watch the Canucks get knocked out in the first round.

Although this year we were allowed to change on deck instead have to run to our bikes outside in our bathing suit.
So the time includes changing into skin tight pants with a wet body (a feat unto itself!) So it's hard to compare my 9:12 swim from last year to the 10:53 this year.
I'm happy with it, but I know I need work on my biking and running.
I have another Lifesaving meet in May before Nationals, so another goal for me is to maybe break a couple of more provincial records.

Ran my first marathon at the Calgary Marathon. 3hrs, 50mins. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. A couple things that I'll take away from the race:
-Anyone can run, it's amazing to see all the different types of people that can run fast.
-Marathons are all about pacing. I ran the first half(21.1kms) in 1:45, I thought I could keep that pace and paid for it dearly.
- I'm still sore.

That's a pretty solid time. Had a friend that ran in it as well and she completed it in just a little over 4 hours.

Yep, anything under 4 hours is very solid! Then again I don't know how some people do it who take 5 or 6 hours as that is a loooooong time to be on your feet!
Calgary is moving up the charts for BQing

Ran my first ever half marathon on Sunday, finished with time of 2:13, which I was extremely happy with. Hadn't trained at all, since I'd been training for the Ride to Conquer Cancer instead.
Definitely going to do the police and Calgary halfs next year, was just so inspiring seeing thousands of people running of all shapes and sizes.
And what a rush it was crossing that finish line! Been walking like an old man the last few days!!

Ran the Calgary Half in 1:55:52 . . . . had a sprained left foot so it was a bit of a surprise. Not too bad for a crotchety old buzzard north of 50 years of age.
Our Millarville "Run To The Farmers' Market" Half Marathon coming up on June 16 is coming together well . . . . . Emily Kroshus, 2011 Canadian Women's marathon champ, and Adela Salt, 2011 UK silver medalist in the 55 KM distance, have entered. There's a 1:32 male half marathoner entered in the last few days and a guy who ran sub 1:25 in the Calgary Half was inquiring a few days ago.Over 200 registrations now which is good for a first race. Should be a fun morning on Racetrack Road!!

I've been running the Calgary 1/2 for the last couple years and it's still my favourite race of the year. There's always an awesome energy to it!
I ran the half this year in 1:48:27, not my best time, but not my worst either

The race went right past my house on 26th ave on Sunday. Pretty fascinating to see all the people out there (especially the fit ladies in spandex!). I watched from my front step for a while, cheering them on.
What's up with the guys running in bare feet? I thought that craze was over! That would destroy me if I ran for 26K with no shoes.

Many of the top ultra-runners run barefoot and avoid injuries even at 50mile 100mile distances. Also for short distance there are some impressive times being achieved barefoot. This guy ran a 3.59.99 barefoot mile

The start lines of a 10 km, half-marathon or marathon are among the best girl-watching spots on the planet.
60% of recreational runners in North America are female and a typical half-marathon is 60% female. The Millarville Half is running 70% female registrations so far.
Just a by-product.
