I'll admit I speed pretty much all the time, however I never speed in playgrounds or school zones. Just hit the pit lane speed limiter at the sign, coast through the zone, and back up to racing speed.

Props for putting on the big boy pants and taking your medicine

You would think that given the fact that we are one of the very few places with them, that other cities/provinces/countries would be running out of children, but it appears they aren't...

This thing has GPS in it, and auto learn and auto mute.
if I drive past the same spot ~3 times, and it recognizes the exact same frequency at the exact same strength, it will lock it out, and I won't hear it anymore.
On the flip side, if I drive past that same area, and it recognizes a stronger signal or different signal, it will alert me.
It warns me of all red light cameras, and any speed traps that I set.
seriously, I was skeptical at first, but I borrowed the same model from a friend a couple years ago, and I was convinced.

I use a V1, not this, and all you have to do if staying in Alberta is turn off K band and X band.

The only falses I ever get are laser (some tail lights can set it off). If I hear the sound for Ka, I know it's either photo radar, a ghost car, or the RCMP. Ka has never lied.

I just drove down to Moab and back (turned on the other bands as US cops use some pretty old equipment still) and it probably saved me 6 tickets. I can't believe how patrolled the Interstates are on the way down there.

Idaho is the worst. Never speed through Idaho. And Moab is awesome.

I don't think you go far enough. The tickets are pretty much a status quo penalty for speeding. This combined with your thirst for self-inflicted public humiliation is a good step in the right direction but it seems you aren’t yet content with the penalties. I think an additional donation to Calgary Puck in the full sum of the fine, a self ban from driving for no less than 12 months, and enrolment in a dangerous drivers training course would fit the bill.

Seriously, is your day ruined because it took you 8 seconds longer to get somewhere?
I didn't say that I don't obey the law. I said the law is stupid.

I swear by this one. My brother had an annoying one that would go off all the time. Not this. Very few false alarms, particularly on your usual routes (it learns them). Great when you travel outside your normal areas. The GPS is programmed with all the camera locations and you can update the database yourself or buy a upgraded database anytime.

It signals a real Ka camera or radar trap at least once a week. Nine times out of 10 it's something I also see, but I estimate I avoid risking a ticket at least 4 times a year. Of those times, I'm usually not speeding, but every once in a while I miss a sign, or am heavy of foot. This is my back-up.

You know why that's silly? Because this a discussion board where people come to discuss things. If someone gets a ticket, they may decide to make a thread on their options (whether it's a fata or not is another thing), that's what Calgarypuck is for....discussion.

There's plenty of threads where people have made mistakes or done something wrong. You may see a thread where someone's left something out of the freezer by accident and wants to know if it's still okay. That doesn't mean we need another thread that says. "Hey I left something out of the freezer, but instead of asking for advice, I'm here to take my lumps like a man".

The idea behind your thread is pretty childish.

You'd better work on your sense of humour flameswin.

I was sure the self-congratulatory would make my intention clear.

Well good for you.

I actually had a police officer tell me I should contest every ticket I get if I am able, so I will stick with that advice. I'm sure many lawyers would agree. Just showing up is usually enough to get the demerits waved, which can make a big difference to insurance.

Don't get me wrong, I believe I've only ever gotten 3 speeding tickets ever. (Non multinova) I'm not a dangerous driver and I do believe in admitting when you've done something wrong. But the advice makes sense to me.

I am glad you took the time to come in here and tell us what detestable human beings we are though.
