I think its natural when forming a new party you get nutjobs joining first as they have nothing to lose by leaving the establishment. It takes a lot longer to get a real stong group of people. I dont think tht they have a extreme right wing agenda, just nutbars that still need to be weeded out. Federally the PCs still have Vellacot from the old reform days so it takes a while to weed them out.
A new credible alternative will push the PCs to the center and give us real choice in every election

I think the strategic voting did play a role, but I almost wonder if some of the WRP voters got lazy?
It's weird to see such a deviation from what we were hearing about the past month.

Well, they'll still be the official opposition, so they're not DOA. Certainly not the result they were hoping for, though. With some time in opposition they'll be able to prove themselves a bit before the next election.
I think the lesson the WRP needs to take away from this is that Albertans are fiscally conservative, but there's absolutely no appetite for social conservatism any more. Expect them to spend more time vetting candidates to weed out the Hunsbergers and Leeches of the world next time.
