I played for a few hours last night as a monk, super fun. Very familiar to D2.
The server connection cratered on me mid-battle, was a bit frustrating.

I had it going for about 2 hours and I got to 3%. I didn't leave it on overnight last night, but I probably should have, I'm downloading at 29.7 KB/s right now. Meanwhile if I put up my torrents they go about 500kb/s. sigh

Try this: Fixed beta for a me a month ago when I was trying to d/l.
You might have some issue with the web browser and so therefore you’re notable download this game from Blizzard Downloader, so first I would like to suggest you to make sure your not set web browser to offline and if your set web browser to offline then I would like to suggest you make online and then try to download. The Blizzard Downloader using the default Windows settings which internet explorer uses, so I think you should check your proxy setting because if you have changed the proxy setting then you’re not able to download. Follow this steps to keep the default Windows settings in internet explorer: first open the internet explorer and after that make click on the tools and then select the internet options. Now on the internet options go to the connection tab and under that click on the LAN button. Now on the LAN button make sure you have checked the automatically detect settings check box. Now save the setting and then try to download your game. If you have proxy setup and then you can’t download this game, I would recommend you to remove the proxy setup. Once you finish this and after that go to the site and then download game.

I had zero problems downloading last night, getting up to 5Mb/s at times, and never below 2Mb/s

^ yeah just "finished" the beta with the Demon Hunter. Not sure about the 'pulse cannon' arrow/crossbow skill, but damn it felt better than i expected mowing down undead from afar.

I'm working on it with the Monk, as I prefer a more hands on approach to killing in games like this. 10/10 for me. It has more of the feel that the original diablo had while having the gameplay be more like the 2nd one. I foresee me spending quite a bit of time on this in may.

oh yeah no doubt, and im sure ill roll a Barb cos i can't help myself to want to get up close and personal, just that i was stoked at how fun the DH combat actually seems to be shaping up to be
probably a naive question, but you really have to be online the whole time? not even like a SC2 thing where you initially have to be online but can then access an offline mode? that seems whack.

Play Wizard: Click, click, click, run away. Click, click, click, run away.
Even more fun when you get the Area of Effect spell too...entire swarms melt.

Thought so too. But a quick google image search clearly shows that a Shaolin monk uses a sword... In a google image... Even dual wielding in one case. Not sure what that's worth. But hey, if google image search says it happens, i'm happy to consider it law.
