The Flames dealt newly minted goalie Niklas Backstrom and a mid round 1st to the Caps this evening for Tim Thomas and a 3rd.

Thomas just wasn't playing like the highest rated CPHL goalie. We hope Backstrom can help the Caps with more conisstent play. Getting a 1st back is a great asset to have going into the offseason.

In unrelated news the Caps are now dangling Anahiems 1st rounder + Dan Cleary for an upgrade up front.
