Now THAT I find interesting. There must be something seriously wrong with the ending to warrant EA to offer refunds for their own game. This makes me seriously worried about finishing ME3. I've thought that they've done an excellent job so far.

It really is a shame. The first 99.5% of the game is absolutely amazing, easily the best of the series, and then it's all undone in the last 15 minutes by a travesty of an ending.

Another funny image containing a very (VERY!) minor ending spoiler:

BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka all but acknowledges that a new ending is on the way...

Mass Effect 3 concludes a trilogy with so much player control and ownership of the story that it was hard for us to predict the range of emotions players would feel when they finished playing through it. The journey you undertake in Mass Effect provokes an intense range of highly personal emotions in the player; even so, the passionate reaction of some of our most loyal players to the current endings in Mass Effect 3 is something that has genuinely surprised us. This is an issue we care about deeply, and we will respond to it in a fair and timely way. We’re already working hard to do that.

[...]

Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You’ll hear more on this in April. We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue.

Thanks Bioware, so basically I should just stop playing now and wait for your sunshine and lollipops DLC ending?

Frack me.

Further closure? You didn't give any closure to begin with. I am utterly shocked that Bioware thought this was a good ending and was a good way to end a trilogy. I wonder if the fame has gone to their head because they haven't been the same since EA took over (not surprisingly). Dragon Age 2 was an abomination to the company and now this.

Are people editing these in movie maker or premiere, or is there an app that they're using?

so your company creates one of the most epic sci-fi series ever created, full of choices that you go on to advertise will have a big impact on how things will end. then you create an ending that doesn't reference any of the past decisions you made in the series and provides no kind of closure, and you act surprised when the entire fanbase is upset? what a tool

Frack me.

Thankfully I've restarted once and had my save file corrupt twice since downloading the new save file. I've been totally put off this game now. I have time to wait!

I wouldn't assume a sunshine and lollipops ending is coming. In fact, I'd probably be even more upset if that was the case since it wouldn't be thematically appropriate with everything that came before it.

I've said it before, but the formula BioWare should have followed for the conclusion of the series is that of Saving Private Ryan. Shepard is Tom Hanks, your NPC companions are his Army Ranger squad, and Private Ryan is all sentient life in the galaxy. The end of the game should have been a bittersweet finale with the protagonist "saving" the galaxy (Pvt. Ryan) but at a great cost to his/her team and possibly his/her own life. It would have been sad and poignant and emotionally touching, but instead we got this mess of an ending that literally makes no sense whatsoever and isn't even logically consistent with the established lore of the series.

I can't wait to see if it's as bad as everyone says. Is it worth me playing 10 hours of mulitplayer if the ending sucks anyways...

Spoiler!

I just read a suggested ending on another forum and love it. It also satisfies BioWare's desire to leave things ambiguous at the end. Spoilers, obviously.

Spoiler!

That would avoid all the problems I have with the ending and also cause crazy amounts of fan speculation about what really happened.

Yes, you're pretty close to the end. After that mission, there are 1-2 more optional side missions then the big finale. You probably have about five hours remaining, possibly less.

Also, if you bought the DLC, I suggest you bring Javik on that mission. He has some pretty interesting dialogue that you'll miss if you bring another companion instead.

Is he the Prothean? I didn't buy it. I shelled out for Collectors so didn't want to spend another 10 bucks on that.

Edit: So yeah, don't bother with the multilayer anymore this play through I guess.

Yeah, he's the Prothean companion. I didn't bring him on that mission because I had no reason to suspect he'd be relevant to the story, but I wish I had now. At least you can watch those scenes on YouTube.

Oh man, I just discovered this fan-created "where are they now" montage in the style of the ending of Animal House. I'm still laughing. This is is exactly the kind of satire the travesty of an ending deserves.

Minor spoilers.

Wait wait wait... you bought the Collectors edition? You do know that the Prothean DLC is included in that right?
