If the Wildrose ran a candidate named Hitler I would take a sign for sure.

At this point, if a candidate talks to me, in person, any any location, I think that would sway me enough to determine my vote. I know that might sound moronic, but if they put an effort into doing that, I would view that as a much more positive thing than any particular platform plank.
I am doubting it will happen though, so I might need to figure out their websites or something and base my choice on something completely stupid, like least annoying website design.

Maybe what pisses me of this most is she/they think this is actually getting tough on drunk driving!
I want to see 5-10 year license suspensions for repeat offenders or offenders that blow .1+, jail terms for 3rd offence and permanent license suspension, jail terms for driving with a dui suspended license. THAT would be getting tough on the actual problem of drunk driving.
Instead they punish people without due process who aren't even legally impaired. Instead I'm the one that wants to encourage drunk driving, good work PC party.

Redford thinks she's doing the right thing, hardly. The guy who drove on the wrong side of the road that killed 4 people will still be doing exactly that. But the people who drink responsibly at a hockey game or a date are the ones that might be fined or arrested.

What blows my mind is that the drunk driving thing will be an election issue. There are so many more important things to talk about.

Agree completely. I think (hope) once the darn thing is underway both parties will be putting forth boarder policy issues and positions.
Looks like some PC's want to push it into May

Yup. But for some reason, this is what nanny Redford thinks is one of the most important things for her government to do. I suppose that when you are trying to obfuscate the health care issues plaguing this government, you have to find something else to distract the public with.

I see an interesting dynamic in this thread. Slava on the centre-left, making patient, rational arguments.
Meanwhile the posters representing the right continually resort to name calling and personal attacks.
Is the right incapable of polite, rational argument or has it's culture devolved to the point where civil debate is impossible?

I really hope we do see the election call pushed back two weeks.

I wouldn't lump all of the posters in that side of things though, to be fair. While I realise that I'm in the minority here it would be cool if a few more centrists would post!

It does seem like there are a lot of WRA supporters on this page. I like to think it is representative of the way this election is going to turn out.
The complete lack of PC supporters is surprising though. Is it that their supporters are mostly in an older demographic that doesn't frequent message boards or that right now the party is hard to defend?

Well its not truly representative though. For example the NDP and Liberals will garner say 30-35% of the vote (based on polls and such at this point, not trying to suggest anything here), yet there are no ardent supporters here? Its a pretty slanted view of the province if you consider this thread as representative.

Personally, I think most have been pretty civil. But not uncommon for us on the right to be labelled angry, name-calling, rednecks.

Which is surprising, given how much Nenshi support there was on this forum.

We should ask Photon (I think it would be him); if we can have a poll for voting intentions. Maybe have it re-set each week. There was a piece on news last night that most people don't make their voting decision until the actual campaign starts.

I don't think a lot of the NDP and Liberal supporters have computers and internet. The government hasn't started handing them out for free yet!

Current party membership is union workers who don't have access to computers, or chairs during the day.
