Wow, surprised to hear everyone's reactions. I am a HUGE fan of Gerry's standup, and his pieces on Score. (He should have followed Cabbie to TSN, I'd never have to change it off TSN, but that's a different argument!)
I found last night's episode even funnier than the first. The PVR is set for me to watch this show weekly. (Hopefully for a long time!)

Watched 2 episodes (the wife and I managed to get through them is more like it). Not watching anymore. Just not very funny and very embarrassing and awkward humor.

I took the time out of my life and watched 4 episodes of this show. Usually it takes 3 - 5 episodes for a show to come together.

Why does this show suck? Mr D is not a likable character at all, in fact, he doesn't have a likable side to him whatsoever. You can't relate to him and you don't want too. There is no reason to like him, thus, it is a chore to watch him. Right now Mr D is the "Bad Guy" and not in a good story telling way. If they change his character around a little bit and make him likable and relatable, even just a little bit, the story will come around and people will start to like it. If they haven't killed it too much.

In my opinion, the problem is a combination of poor directing/writing rhythm

The show actually is fairly well written. The issue lies in the fact the dialogue goes Setup, Punchline, Awkward Moment, Pause.

The pause should be after the punchline, and the awkward moment eliminated.

Jerry Dee doesn't do much awkward humour in his standup, so why put it in the show? Why don't they pause after the punchlines? It's all around odd.

Yeah, the show lost me, I dont even PVR it anymore. Its just all around bad. Its like they dont know how to tell a joke or create a funny sequence.

The receptionist was far and away the best part of that show. I got out of the habit of checking it out on Monday nights (might try and catch up over the summer).

What I truly loved about the scene you mention is that it's painfully obvious they filmed it as the receptionist as a Leafs fan, while Cammalleri was still with Montréal, then the trade happened and they had to dub it over.
