My goal is to get my running injury/mechanics issues treated so I can start running again. I have my eye on some half marathons in the fall.
I'm being particularly bold with my training, as right now I'm on a pretty intense strength training program and am going to attempt to keep it the same while adding in a pretty intense aerobic program. That means two hard workouts a day, eating a ton, and sleeping a ton.
I figure I'm not going to have time to train like this later in life, so I want to really push myself now - plus I love the hard training.

Dunno where you all find the time for all these events.
I'm hoping to go snowboarding at least 3 times and golf at least 15 rounds. The biggest change will the wife and I eating much better, figure I could shed 15-20 pounds.
Good luck to everyone!

Hows the training going?
That's a pretty good goal! I came pretty close to signing up one year. Would have liked to do a sub 12. But that was years ago before I was crushed by injuries and life.
If I can rebound and get through 2012 how I'd like to, I think Ironman Canada is quite do-able for 2013.

My goal for this year is to run the Regina half marathon in September - my husband and I walked it two years ago, we had to bow out of it last year due to my pregnancy but this year I want to run it. This will require me to drop a good 20 lbs, 50 would be great, so we'll see how all of this goes. Hope to get the okay to start running from the doc next month.

You will like this race. The entire community gets behind it and it goes through Wascana park which is about as nice as it gets in Regina. It is also a very flat race so times tend to be quicker. I did the full marathon a few years ago and had a lots of fun and have to hand it to Regina for having a great sense of community. Part of this was because there was a Riders game on and people were out cheering runners on throughout the community while tailgating in the background with the game on. Good luck!

Bump.
I've added a last minute goal.
To get myself out of my "comfortable zone" I've decided to enter in the Alberta Lifesaving Provincial Championships at the end of March.
I will likely be one of maybe 6-10 competitors in the Senior women category. I'll be doing events that I've taught, but never competed in. I'm thinking I should put in a couple of practices before then? Or should I just wing it and see what happens?

I don't know why but I decided to sign up for a half marathon in Banff. I think I may try and train for this one. I would like to try and run 4 min km ( I averaged 5 for my first race in Arizona in jan) If I can get a half marathon at 4 mins per km it may push me to try a marathon to qualify for Boston.

My Goal is to lose 20 pounds.
My other goal was to run 5km non-stop... I reached that goal. When I started I could only run 3 minutes and walk for 5 minutes. So it feels good to just go out and run 5km in 25 minutes. It took about 7 weeks from start to 5km. Feels good man.
Also to eat healthy, and since I am living in a country with no fast food, that is quite easy.

I want to lose 12 more pounds before the start of next hockey season. The last half of 2011 wasn't good for me. I was down to the lowest weight I had been for 12-15 years. I was doing it mostly by watching what I eat, not having much pop and completely eliminating slurpees. I played hockey twice per week. Then I completely fell off track and I gained 10 lbs.
I recently started to do more than just hockey twice per week. I'm switching it up between treadmill and exercise bike and I've lost 4 pounds in the last two weeks. My diet has improved but I've got a long way to go to get back to where that was.
I'm going to use the next several weeks to do as much toning as I can before I go to Hawaii. I don't expect a 6-pack, perfectly chiseled chest and bulging biceps in just a few weeks, but I can definitely turn some flab into muscle so I don't look quite so flabby. I intend to keep that up throughout the year.
As I stated I want to lose 12 pounds before October. Just these last two weeks of doing more cardio has made a big difference in how I feel when I play ice hockey. I don't get tired as quickly and my legs don't scream at me as much either. This has given me more motivation to keep it up so I can be in tip top shape for next season.

The topic was clearly Athletic goals. I didn't see anyone writing down "winning a poker tournament". haha kidding
My old goal was to break 80 as well, then I moved to Alberta and realized i don't get days off anymore (or at least enough to get back to bogey golf).
My goal is to train and run a half marathon next year in Kelowna thanksgiving weekend with family. Other than that, hockey once a week is all I have time for right now.

Golf is as much of a sport as triathlon.
And darts... and curling...

Maybe a debate for another thread. But I'd be hard pressed to. . .
Well I'll just do this
When you can be a professional and grossly out of shape I don't think I'd call it a sport. It's a game of skill and even though some of the best golfers are in great shape and probably very athletic to extremely athletic, I'd lean towards not calling it's participants "athletes".
