Default Odd facebook notifications

I don't log into facebook too often anymore, but I do have the app on my iphone and it has been sending me weird push notifications lately. It seems to be just one friend, but could be others if they utilized the location service thing facebook now has.

Anyway, whenever a certain friend of mine checks into a location I get a push notification stating where and who with. It is very creepy and I don't know what is causing it and what made it begin doing it in the first place.

I've looked around and can't figure out how to make it stop. Well I thought I did, but a new notification popped up today.
Should I just delete the friend? Delete facebook?

Don't delete the friend. Their dad will murder you.

Is that like a gang initiation? I heard people driving around with high-beams on are actually being initiated - if you flash your lights at them they have to kill you, that's how they get into the gang.

This might be similar. I definitely wouldn't de-friend them.

A few months ago I was having the same problem. I'd get the check-in notifications, but only from one person.

I think I stopped it by disabling all push notifications from the Facebook app.

Reasonable response in a reasonable amount of time is reasonable.
