		| On January 31, the 73-year-old Homosassa, Florida man dialed police, said he was with the Department of Defense and asked them to inspect a vehicle belonging to a Canadian tourist for bombs, reports News 13.
Tarochione had used his own vehicle to force the Ontario car off the road and into the parking lot of a strip club, where he held the, um, suspects until officers arrived.

I have to say, I am very much surprised they used that spelling for licence.
(Before people jump all over it, that spelling is still correct, I just don't see it used very often.)

I don't have my Canadian Press style guide here and can't confirm, but 'licence' is the Canadian spelling of the word and the website is based in Canada.

I realize that, but I just don't remember them using the Canadian spelling, even in newspapers, but I guess I didn't pay much attention to it.

So why did the Canadian tourist have all those guns in his car? That seems odd.

I believe that, technically, licence is the noun, and license is the verb. ie: you have a driver's licence, but you are licensed to drive.

That's correct. See here for a comparison, scroll down half the page for all of the licence related words: http://www.luther.ca/~dave7cnv/cdnspelling/cdnspeL.html |

The same as defence is the noun and defensive is the verb or adverb. I pointed this out on this forum once since it's commonly spelled wrong, but all I got was a lot of grief.
