Just checking out some of those. These 2 kind of caught on for me quickly:

I have only one complaint about the new Roots album - too short.

I agree, but two records in two years is nice.

That and there aren't really any bad or meh songs on the album. It's pretty rock solid.

I know this is going to sound like hating and trolling ala Flame of Liberty but I really tried to give Bon Iver a chance, especially after naming a song after our fair city. But alas in my unsophisticated head the songs sounded like Coldplay and Radiohead teamed up to make the most pretentious overwrought album ever to piss off those that find simple pleasure in the odd popular music track. Maybe I'm just one of the unwashed masses that's slowly contributing to the end of music as we know it, but that's my reaction.

My favorite album of '11 was M83 - Hurry Up, We're dreaming

I don't get the love for Bon Iver myself. He is on SNL this week.

Both Bon Iver's and PJ Harvey's albums are decent, but they're headphone music. Something to listen to if you're on a long drive, flight, etc., or if you like to sit in your room and smoke a lot of weed. They're albums you listen to if you want to do nothing else but just sit and listen to music. I'll occasionally throw on the PJ Harvey album when I'm on the bus, but other than that it doesn't get much playtime with me.

Also, that reminds me, up on my all-time people I can't stand list is the dude that puts on headphone music at his party. Nothing kills the mood faster than when you shut down songs that everyone knows to play something you feel is important for everyone to listen to.

Been casually making my way through the various "Best of" lists, trying to find stuff I missed this year, and I officially don't get the love for The Weeknd. It's Top 40 humping music masquerading under an indie label.

I found it difficult to find a song there that resonated with me.

That's what its meant to sound like. The lyrics are really dark, but it sounds so sexy. That's why I love it

The list of artists he teamed up with in 2011 and now into 2012 is pretty impressive. Not only did I think Bon Iver Bon Iver was one of the best of 2011 but the random singles he and other artists scattered throughout the past year could have made another equally impressive album. The latest : Bon Iver with the Chieftains : Down by the willow garden http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/..._the_song.html

Damnit, M83's Hurry Up We're Dreaming is the best album I have heard in years. In fact, it's the only album I've heard in a decade where every single song is good. I've got to pick this up. Maybe on Vinyl.

Not new at all, but I just purchased Nirvana's MTV Unplugged on iTunes ($6.99 ftw) and it is fantastic. I don't think i've listened to the whole thing since I owned it on tape in grade 7/8.
