Lol there was one quest where during it I was supposed to find a book in a room, and it didn't dawn on me that it might be back up the stairs near the entrance.. five minutes of circling the room a hundred times, I finally picked up every single ruined book, like 250 of them. STILL no book.
THEN I figured out it might be up the stairs past all the other bookshelves I passed in getting down to kill everyone.
At that point I knew where it probably was, but I picked up the rest of the ruined books anyway.

I've been there.... I don't know how many times I've thought I was exactly where I was supposed to be according to the indicator on the compass only to realize I was supposed to be a level above or level below. It's maddening.

The reason that PS3 has so many problems with Skyrim.
Quote:
The heart of the matter lies in how the PS3 deals with memory management. Unlike the Xbox 360's free memory pool, the Sony system's equal 512mb is divided into 256 for system memory and 256 for graphical memory. This divided pool makes it harder for developers to...make sh#$ work.
Sawyer makes it sound like PS3 owners are up the creek if they ever hope to have a smooth Skyrim experience with large save files. We'll wait and see if Bethesda can pull an ace out of their pants.
|
So basically the game is just way to big for the PS3 to save everything you can possibly change.

then they should have abandoned the PS3 version alltogether instead of releasing it at the same price and saying nothing about this issue until they were forced to acknowledge it. shady tactics no matter how you look at it

At least PS3 people have a chance to play the game even though they bought an obviously inferior system, can't have it all... Unless you have an Xbox or PC.

They should just release memory expansion packs like they used to have for the N64 but Sony would never want to admit a potential issue like the 512MB being split for system and graphics.
There are ways around this but this is also a limitation of crappy old Gamebyro with sprinkles on top (Creation Engine).
We can only hope the Xbox 720 and PS4 will cause developers to be more ambitious with their engines so PC gamers can get some games that actually push technology again.

Found that after I finished. I wish to make sure no others suffer the way I suffered.

I had lag in one of the Dwarven ruins after the patch. Ran into it tow times during the dungeon. And it was game busting lag. However, I saved, simply reloaded and the lag was gone.

Frack I've been getting bugged out on the main quest all evening.
First I can't talk to some guy, download a bunch of sound files from some download site and that fixes it.
Now something is supposed to happen in a scripted event, but it doesn't! I just stand there waiting forever. Reloading from a save game is supposed to fix it but it doesn't for me. I guess I can try manually progressing through the quest with console commands or else I guess I'm done the game.
Did no one actually play through the main quest?! ARG.

Is that the one with the civil war? Or the assassinations?

Which part are you at? I had it glitch up on me in those ratway sewers, with the dragonblade guy.. couldn't open the door. But read up that if you repeatedly hammer E, it will force it to proceed and that worked. The guy also glitches so you have to talk to him every so often to get him to move/follow you.

Yeah glitched there, got past it by downloading the guy's voice files, then it worked fine.
I'm further on:

I tackle the Main quest when I've decided that I've done the other major quest lines I'd like to do. Same with Morrowind and Oblivion. I think in those two games by the time I decided to do the main quest I just ran through the quest line single hitting everybody.

Hand in my thesis proposal Wednesday at noon, then its Elder Scrolls 5 time.
This will be the first one in the series I have played. I am excited... been a while since I could actually finish a console game, hoping this will be an exception. (Found Dragon Age and ME to be horrible games, couldn't even finish 1/4 of the gameplay)
Damn you MMOs...
