Haha, well none of it's my money, really. Apparently the wife and I have an arrangement where I make the money and she gets to spend it. I'm not sure when I agreed to it, but that seems to be the way it's gone.

Just got mine yesterday. They're being sent in batches, so some of them won't arrive until later this week and even into next week.

why do u keep the credit cards then? talk about temptation... you should cancel all but one CC, And get a lower limit... whats the point of getting all the Credit cards if you don't need them?

Funny how that works, isn't it? Just make sure you don't give her your credit cards when she goes to the mall. |

All you need to do is buy the rugrat one of those "My Parents got my Ralphbucks" t-shirts.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one waiting. Saturday night my friends stopped by at a house party to show off the new puppy they had gotten with theirs. Made me feel like I had gotten ripped off.

My wife and I got ours in yesterday's mail.
So The Brick is having a prosperity cheque sale, are there any other places doing anything similar (outside of their standard sales)?

I also heard that Sears is letting you cash in your cheque for a $440 gift card.
From what I heard on the radio this morning with Ikea, it's a $50 gift certificate with every $400 purchase.

Well, sometimes we do need a higher limit. Like when we bought our mini-van. 4,000 bucks, plus tires, plus inspection, plus regular expenses, totalled up to a hekuva lot of money. I paid for tuition with my credit card. I have one credit card I use for personal, one for work expenses, and my wife has one for personal.

It's always handy to have the flexibility of a lot of credit available to you, as long as you have the mental fortitude to not spend what you don't really have. So far we haven't, and it hasn't been a problem. I see some people in debt up to their eyeballs, and it just makes my resolve that much stronger. Sure, I'd love to have a big screen TV, or a brand new kitchen, but I don't want to be paying for it for another 20 years.

The 30,000 dollar LOC is for the downpayment I'm going to be putting on my second house. I don't use it for any personal expenses whatsoever.

Visions is giving an extra $50 on each $400 Ralph Cheque you spend there.

These deals are no big thing unless you consider the $400 free money. I for one don't consider sales at the Brick and Visions (both IMO are overpriced in the first place) a big deal.

They actually changed the rules for buying a house. First time buyers can now get a loan for the downpayment.

I agree. My favorite is that Shopper's Drug Mart is giving an extra $15... now, first off, that isn't a lot. And secondly, what the hell do you need at Shopper's for over $400?! I can see people who spend a lot on drugs doing it, but IIRC, drugs were excluded. Although all you new parents out there, that's a lot of diapers!

Well, as far as I know, the banks won't let you do that. There are plenty of ways around it though. You just gotta be creative...
