Was it a Salisbury House (red roof). Their burgers are called nips.
It was actually a place called "Fat Cats", although I am familiar with the Salisbury House. I recall that the Winnipeg Greyhound station had one. I was used to hearing that word as it is common in restaurants in the area, so it didn't even occur to me that someone might misunderstand.
I still think it's funny though because he judged me as a racist on the account of me being white without allowing me to explain or without giving me the benefit of the doubt. He was in fact being the racist one, but I doubt that he ever saw the irony.

If they took away every child whose parent even went on a racist rant, a lot of us would have grown up in foster homes...and then been taken away from them too.
The rant wasn't the issue, it was her accepting invitations to fight at the next station, and putting her kid in a pretty dangerous situation.
My brother was in Denny's many moons ago for a late night breakfast, him and his juvenile friends had never seen the term bangers as sausages, so they were laughing loudly saying bangers. A banger came over and punched him in the face and said "you calling me a banger?". Apparently the guy was a banger too.
WTF? a banger is slang for a weiner/sausage in England. How did some guy get offended and punch your brother?
I am against broad "hate speech" laws, as they naturally conflict with total liberty and the feedom of speech.
LOL ....."nip" is what constitutes as racist hate speech and emotional trauma nowadays? Some have had it too good I guess.
Anyways, I wish people in general weren't so easily butt-hurt about what others have to say, ...but we live in a liberal world now, so constant complaining and being the victim is the order of the day.
Did I use the terms "hate speech"? Did I say I suffered "emotional trauma"? It's not like I suffered night terrors for year on end because of that. But that moment is in my memory. You know I have the right to ride the bus and not be called a nip. It's stupid and belittling. Your comment sounds like you're condoning these types of actions. Too good my ass.

Wow, that's 1/5th a step away from simply saying "I think Japanese people ARE DIRTY NIPS". I am saddened to live in a world where my children will run into people like Mikey.

Reason: edited to remove socio-economic discriminatory comment.
I remember a caption from a Spiderman comic where he was being attacked by a ninja and he said something like; "There seems to be a little nip in the air".
Yeah... different times for sure.

You sure picked a fitting username.

Man amorak, .....a trailer park joke? That's pretty original considering my user name. Only you could calculate someone to be 1/5th racist.
I think your children could learn a valuable lesson from me. Notice how I don't go off in an emotional rant about how I'm offended that because of my handle you infer that I live in a trailer park.

I dunno about emotional scars, but a lot of the racism I've experienced in my life always seem to stand out. The teens on the bus who yell "Wow it sure is NIPPY out there." The 10-year old in Italy or the kid back in Jr. High or the random guys driving by who made the slanty eyes gestures at me. The old man in Banff who told me to "Go back to where you came from" despite my best efforts to be polite to him. I was born here, d*****. The fact that most of these came from a younger generation, and not an older generation is kinda sad.
Yeah the lady probably doesn't deserve prison time or to have her kid taken away. But seriously, this bull**** has to stop.
I'll always remember your thread about that Banff experience.
Let me see if I understand you correctly Scud; racisim is wrong........ unless you are calling them white trash? Then you think it's OK?
What I did was not racism. Though I guess, in hindsight it was class and/or socio-economic discrimination and not a good thing either. I take it back and apologize if I offended anyone who lives in a trailer park.
