That Samantha Bee video was incredible.
"In any case, the uptown elitists and the downtown poors can agree, the occupation ended too early. They didn't even have time to develop a middle class for this new society to crush."

I'm actually kind of offended when these clowns are arrogant enough to claim they represent 99% of the population. Um, no you don't you bunch of lazy, pot smoking whackos.

Funny headline on the front page of the Toronto Star right now:
"Man In Custody After Last Stand At The Library Yurt."
Some headline writer at the Star probably couldn't believe his luck when he landed that assignment.

Honestly I think they've even stopped with the 99% thing at this point. Their still touting "inequality" as a big cause, but since the public has soured on them they seem to have dropped the whole "we are the 99%" thing.
Just a quick glance of the Occupy Calgary website & blog doesn't turn up many mentions of the 99% anymore.

I don't think they've done all that much in the way of updating, I think they found that it was too much work.

To be fair, Occupy Calgary had almost no direction to begin with...them losing track of the 99% probably was going to be a foregone conclusion.

Nope, that was Paul Hughes. He actually has an account here and posted a little during the mayoral election.

Yeah, you can't claim the whole inequality thing when your demand extravagent things from the city that will be paid for by mostly low and middle income tax payers.
We want we want we want free free free does not make you a hero among the poor and down trodden.
what really should resonate with these bone heads is the online poll about free electricity that garnered them 1% of the vote saying yes give them free electricity.
the fact that their fund raising pretty much stalled them when they hit $4000.00 and its never been mentioned yet
The fact that they were advocating their tent people go to the homeless shelter and grab warm clothing that had been donated for the homeless.
They have people that have willingly given up their jobs because of this camp out, thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard and it doesn't make you a sympathetic tragic hero figure in this city or any city, it makes you somewhat stupid.
While they mutter about inequality of income, and all of that, its never been about that, it been about a bunch of malcontents who have decided that every one is to blame for the crap in the world but them, and somebody better fix their situation for them.

Some of those links are hilarious.. How about you pack up and go home in shame.
http://forum.occupycalgary.ca/showth...e-City-s-Offer
Ok folks, while I’m hesitant to make a deal with the City, I will bend to the idea that it’s likely a good show of solidarity with OWS to begin good faith negotiations. Also, I think Arran makes some very good points in his post. Please consider them. That said, here’s my suggestions for items in an agreement. I’m sure there are many other suggestions to consider:
1) That the city find a place agreeable to OC where we can hold GAs in safety and warmth.
2) That the city will cover rent for said place.
3) That the city pay for the rental of all equipment necessary to hold our GAs. For example: mics, amp’s, speakers, tables, chairs etc. Including internet access for live steaming.
4) That the city pay to hold sixteen GAs as stated above with time/date/location/format of our choosing. (Maybe even twenty to get us through our winter of discontent with weekly GAs).
5) That the city permit one tent at the plaza, or at a mutually agreed location, as an info booth to disseminate information to the public and to operate during normal park hours.
6) That the city provide electricity during normal park hours to ensure adequate lighting in and around the information tent referred to in 5) and provide assistance (CFD, Bylaw) in setting up an adequate and compliant heating system for the information tent referred to in 5). Also, that the city provide security for the information tent during off hours.
7) That the city pay for three evenings rental of the largest rooms at every Community Hall in Calgary for the purpose of holding public forums.
8) That the city pay for the rental of all equipment necessary to hold such forums. For example: mic’s, amp’s, speakers, tables, chairs etc. Including internet access for live steaming.
9) That the city pay to advertise all public forums. Including TV, radio, newspapers, community newsletters, etc.
10) That the city pay for a CPS presence at each public forum for the duration of the meeting.
I’d decline the city’s offer to provide planners/help to set this up. It’s probably more trouble than it’s worth.
