Might as well fix all the problems right now, instead of fixing some now and some later. The NBA has to be one of the worst leagues for having guys making enormous amounts of money and not playing at all, or hardly contributing. Guys like McGrady, Yao, Marbury and Brand were/are making huge $$ without contributing a damn thing.

The NBA needs a hard cap to help lower some of the salaries of the 2nd/3rd tier players, and it needs some sort of a better system to help rid teams of ridiculous contracts.
If the owners want to stop paying the players ridiculous contracts, then stop paying the players ridiculous contracts.

Agreed, but it only takes a couple of owners handing out rashard Lewis type contracts to ruin it for everybody.

Sounds like they have reached a deal.

Where are you hearing that? No major media outlets have reported anything beyond that progress was made.

Pistons executive Dave Checketts had reported that a deal had been reached, but Chris Broussard of ESPN is very adamant that's not the case.

I never watch the NBA. Can't stand basketball, and yeah the endless stream of time outs at the end of a game are ######ed.

I'm just glad my sports highlights at night aren't cluttered up with 15-20 minutes of crappy basketball highlights anymore.

Good riddance. I'd be happy as heck if they folded that league up for good.

If we're relying on the collective intelligence of hockey players to save the NHL next season, it's going to be a long winter.

Donald Fehr was brought in for a reason and he's going to play the hardliner here no question.

Do you have a source or is this just more speculation from you?

Sid's hat is a pretty reputable poster - he probably does have some sources or rumors, so if you're trying to **** on him, grow the hell up.

Ha, get a life. I asked if he had a source or if this was speculation, sorry that got your panties in a bunch.

Why don't you go back to coming up with some new non-sensical rules for basketball.

I think the current proposal is do or die for this NBA season; doesn't look like the players take it. Most of the quotes are very pessimistic.
If they don't, they know the owners are going to come back with a worse offer, so the players can only be planning on going the decertification route, and we can look forward to a long parade of this whole thing into various courtrooms. I'm hoping for a season lock-out and that the hardliners get an NHL-style hard cap when it's all done. As a Raptors fan, a hard cap doesn't particularly benefit them (they're one of the few teams to make a profit under the current system), but it just makes for more parity overall and a more entertaining league.

Aww, are your feelings hurt Valo? I see you're still in the habit of responding to every single thread you post in within 5 minutes.

Keep your chin up champ.

Anyways before you try to criticize my ideas, maybe at least put yourself out there instead of trolling and throw something meaningful on the table.

I don't think the NBA has ever had parity ever in it's history.
And why would it start now, it's starved for ratings and it's peak in popularity was when the Bulls won 6 championships.

Your ideas demonstrate that you have no idea as to the basic rules of basketball. Why would I need to propose any changes to point that out? I don't think there's a need for much change in terms of playing rules, that makes it kind of difficult to call for a change now doesn't it?

I'll start watching basketball when it goes full contact, until then it's just netball for black guys.

A) It's not all black guys.

B) Have you ever seen Netball? It's unwatchable! Can't dribble or juke or do anything!

I don't watch the NBA. It doesn't make sense to me that the game played by probably the most athletic people in the world is so boring.

I would love to see them outlaw dunks. Maybe see something other than giants slam dunking the ball.
