Hmmmm...We might have found someone who can take down Rob Anders in 4 years.

I like it! Although I wonder how much influence CP would have in Calgary West.

Bad news:
Two SAIT graduates have been named finalists in this year’s YOU Innovate Canada tournament.
First-year business administration students Dinara Yanbaeva and Leighton Kiriachuk entered the competition with the Canadian Youth Business Foundation as part of Global Entrepreneur Week...
Their video was submitted to the competition against 24 other contestants. Online votes were counted towards a project’s score but the majority of the decision was made by a panel of judges...
“It has taught me that everything is possible,” said Yanbaeva. “We created something from nothing.”

At first I was mad, but then I read this:
Quote:
Although the pair was not eligible to redeem the cash prize for their project due to Yanbaeva’s lack of Canadian citizenship, they have learned a lot from the experience.

Although the SAIT students finished second overall, there was fierce competition between their video and another Alberta contestant, Kendra Wannamaker. The contestants engaged in an online voting battle that ultimately gave Wannamaker the lead with 11749 votes, compared to Yanbaeva’s 7281.
“We had a big voting campaign, all of Russia voted for our project,” said Yanbaeva, “There was even an article in the local paper.”

Well, we did all we could. (except finding out who the judges were and "leaning" on them)
Yanbaeva is a cutie.
Congrats.

this was probably more note worthy involving our battle:

Feels like a slightly hollow jihad now...but...at least we beat Mother Russia.
Also...

What the hell was the online component for then if a panel of judges had the final say anyways?

To me the end result meant nothing. Anyone with a brain in their head, knew there were far better ideas and that the judging panel would have seen through Kendras.
The stubbornness, and teamwork this site showed to win "the popular vote" was outstanding. People fell into specialized roles, and kept focused. It was quite amazing to watch, for the better part, a bunch of strangers with zero personal gain, or affiliation band together for such a meaningless cause.
This is like Rocky I. We went the full distance and ultimately lost on the card. But we made a heroic effort in doing so. (Yes I realize the hyperbolic use of the word heroic.)

She kind of did when they stated that there was a massive online voting war and that Wannamaker came out on top.

Well that's a little ridiculous. It was a jihadn't. Did you see Michael Ha's name anywhere in the article? Of course not. The jihadn't was a resounding success.
