I have friends who try to rationalize like you jaydorn; and really it comes down to being cheap. Don't get me wrong; I'm cheap as well. It isn't always a bad thing. However you can't look at the lowest line item and ask why you don't get that price. It's like looking at the McDonalds menu and seeing that a Big Mac combo is only 20¢ more than just the burger and fries; and then asking to just buy a drink for 20¢ without buying anything else.
Yes you raise a good point, but how much does pop cost at the superstore liquor store?

I don't deny I'm being a little cheap, it's just frustrating to see the cost of a single services so close to the price of two bundled services. Like I said, I want faster internet, I don't want cable TV, but they cost almost the same.

This bundling situation sucks for me. I have a Telus landline and there is no choice where I live. I could bundle this with Telus internet but the fastest speed they can offer me is 1Mbps download and they don't offer a TV option.

I have Shaw highspeed internet and I could bundle this with TV but until recently they didn't even offer Centre Ice and even now there is no Centre Ice HD, so this is a no go because I've had Centre Ice HD since 04 with Bell. So I'm stuck with Bell for TV and it would take a lot for me to move as I've invested too much money in STBs. As for a landline, Shaw isn't available here and no other service but Telus is allowed.

For cell phone service, I don't have reception in my house, yeah it works down on the highway and on the road above me but it's really lucky to have reception at home, otherwise I'd drop my landline. I do have a pay as you go phone, but I rarely use it.

So what I end up with is Shaw internet, Bell TV, and a Telus landline with no reasonable bundling options from any of them. For me the bundling options are a rip off as there really are no options.

Basic cable is certainly the cheapest of all the services that Shaw provides, from their perspective.

Could drop the phone and go with a VOIP option?

I'll look into it but I think the last time I checked, I couldn't get a local phone number.

You could also pick up a MagicJack USB telephone jack and plug your phone into that.

Does anyone have any experience with Telus high speed or distributel? Now that I don't have cable I'm using Netflix a lot more as well as the tv apps for my iPad and apple tv, which also means I'm going to be over my 250Gig limit with shaw. I figure I will be at about 300 by the time this billing cycle is over. Telus' limit is 500 so I'm thinking im going to switch. I used to be with Telus for about 10 years up until 2 years when I started working for shaw. I never had an issue with Telus. I'm just wondering how things are today.
I'd have to go with Telus 25 and not optik. I don't want tv.
