The clip they need to also show is the Stamps early 2000's win against the Esks at Commenwealth.
Stamps take a 5 point lead with a couple minutes left on the clock. The Esks get a official-aided TD drive, to go up by 1 with a minute to go. EDM go for the two point convert...and the Stamps intercept it and go 111 yards. Stamps get the 2 points for the convert, and instead of down 1, go up 1, and win the game. One of the best Stamps moments I've seen, given the opponent and the outrage how the refs kept throwing flags on that last drive.
For a commercial, its a late amazing comeback, as well as a truly unique Canadian play...in the NFL, now that they've gone back to the 2 point convert, if a similar INT happens, its blown dead, the 2 points are only possible for the TD scoring team.
One of the only cases in football where you saw a team just score to take the lead (and in the final minute), then have to be kicked off to by the team who just gave up the lead.

One of the CFL rules that I love.
And to add to that, the Esks had to kick off to the Stamps.
Although the CFL is making strides, some of that old footage is nowhere to be found. That play, PeeWee Smith in 1991, and the 4x100m relay on the track at Commenwealth as a TD celebration circa 2006, I would love to see over (the last, TSN had a bit of it on the top 5 CFL celebrations a couple years back, but not the whole thing), all coincidently being in Edmonton.
GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. -- Tributes from sports teams and a plea for calm have been issued for a northern Alberta community busy with funerals for four high school football players killed in a car crash.
Alberta's two Canadian Football League teams, the Edmonton Eskimos and Calgary Stampeders, announced Thursday they will stick the logo of the Grande Prairie Warriors on their helmets for their final two regular season games.
Riders game this afternoon wasn't a sellout. A sign of the bandwagon emptying?
First, I recognize this is a Calgary board and people hate the Riders with a passion for a variety of reasons that makes them have an illogical and occasionally the arguments lack any reason or logic.
That being said, you can't be serious?
A team that hasn't missed the playoffs this millennium, who was pegged to at least contend for the West and was thought to be guaranteed a playoff spot and has appeared in 3 of the last 4 GC games has an awful, awful season filled with numerous embarrassing losses, terrible coaching, a wildly inconsistent team and you are shocked that they didn't sell out a meaningless game? Seriously?
The Riders are eliminated from the playoffs, they have been for weeks and it isn't like they were pegged to suck, this is a huge disappointment for Rider nation. Even fans like me who thought they were more of a 10-8 to 8-10 team are shocked at just how bad they are.
I've been to meaningless Stamps games with less than 10k people (I think it was in the rain against an East team a few seasons ago). Did they just fold up shop and contract the team? Did people consider Calgary had gone cold as a football market?
Again, I totally get that as Calgary fans who feel that the whole "Rider Nation" thing is shoved down their throats by TSN and hate the invading fans at McMahon totally love this.
But the announced crowd was over 25k I believe and the actual crowd was about 20k. All for a meaningless game, against a meaningless opponent on a cold, windy, fall day in Regina.
If we declared every franchise's fan base as crumbling when they only drew 20k fans this league would already be under. Again, I get that it is different for Sask because none of the other teams are declared "greatest fans in the universe" on a regular basis by TSN and other media outlets, so for the Riders to maintain that monicker they need to be the team that draws better than everyone else and still sell out when they suck. Well, IMO 20k for a meaningless game isn't bad, regardless of who the fans are. In fact, in many other CFL cities there may have only been 10k fans there. So maybe 20k wasn't so bad given the circumstances.
I do think the "bandwagon" will empty a bit heading into next season. Just like with the Calgary Flames, the fans who came on board when it was trendy and tickets were tough to get and it was the place to be will quickly fall off. I remember a day when even having sportchek zone tickets was considered awesome because you could not even get a ticket to a Flames game.
What ends up happening is that a huge chunk of those fairweather fans jump off the bandwagon, others go back to being casual fans and a relatively small percentage got the bug for life and end up being hardcores for life.
Next season most of the games will still sell out but you won't see the kind of fervor from the trendy crowd who only went because it was the popular thing to do. Frankly this is better for everyone involved. Opposing fans get to say that the "greatest fans in the universe" thing was all BS marketing conspiracy from TSN, real fans get tickets easier and cheaper and there may be less drunken baboons who don't even know what a first down is.

Am I stating that the Riders are suddenly going to struggle to draw fans, and risk losing their team? No, not for a second. They are still a very good draw, and their fan support is still good for the league. They will still get decent crowds, along with Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and BC.
I was speculating that perhaps the much praised Rider Nation was not as fervent in their support for the team as TSN has stated. Over the last 5 years. Rider Nation has been jammed down our throats, and yes, Stampeder fans love the fact that the team is in the basement, and that the watermelon wearing, Pilsner drinking idiots are leaving.
You can argue that Winnipeg is currently experiencing the same trendiness in terms of support that the Riders received 5 years ago, with the team drawing an all time record of 29559 fans, and moving into a new stadium next year. There are ups and downs in attendance in every sport.
The difference is that Rider Nation was acting like they were the most loyal fans in the history of sport, and that fans wouldn’t leave if the team started to lose. I guess we will see who shows up next year…

So then my post was accurate.
You are stating that because they didn't sell out for a meaningless game near the end of a disappointing season, you believe that proves that TSN's pro-Rider agenda was all a big lie. Just seems a bit strange to me is all. I think there are far more factors that go into the Rider Nation monicker than the correlation between a teams record/the importance of the game and ticket sales.

Riders game this afternoon was a snooze fest. 19-3 Roughriders over the Ti-Cats.
Did anyone see the Winnipeg-Toronto game last night? Dirty hit on Jyles by the Bombers and refereeing that was an absolute disgrace (IMO) to the CFL
Saw that these afternoon and that was beyond stupid as he clearly tried to injure Jyles, sucks the CFL will just toss a $500 fine at his loser ass, when if fact he should be given 3 games maximum and a huge fine.
So who do you guys want the Stamps to play? Is 1st still possible?
I don't know if anyone wants a piece of BC right now.
I'd rather play BC. Unless the bizarre happens and the Stamps clinch first, they're doing to need to knock of both teams anyway. BC is a bit more banged up right now, so I'd rather take them on first than give them a week off to get healthy.
Interesting that Hamilton is the only one of the contenders who can really feel comfortable resting their starters next week (although that may change for BC or Montreal by Sunday).

I think Edmonton is a much easier opponent but might want to play them second because they will be much easier to beat the second week. Don't really want to face BC after playing Edmonton.
I don't see the Stamps beating BC anyways if Tate is QB so I hope they can manage to luck out and get first and hope for a miracle Esks win over BC in the WSF.
I don't think it matters who we play, the talent is there for us to win the Grey Cup, but a lot has to be corrected.
This team takes penalties that lead to points again, momentum killing, game winning drives against are the result of dumb bone headed play.
Turnovers are huge issue for team, looks like no matter who is in the ball is being turned over on a constant basis. I will give Tate some leeway as he is a rookie QB playing full games he will throw picks. Fumbles by veteran players are concerning.
Playcalling has been a issue has well, on all 3 phases of the ball. Offensively we move the ball up the field, them boom 2 head scratching calls. Defenses same thing, apply some pressure and boom sit back and allow a 3rd and 10 situation to become a touchdown. Embarrassing stuff.
I think the biggest loses this team has had have been in the trenches where the game is usually won and lost. Offensive lineman Ben Archibald, and Tom Johnson. Two key cogs that where huge for us last year. Now on defence our 3 or 4 man pressure is missing, because that guy up the gut is not disrupting play allowing other guys to go in free and apply pressure.
For us to win a game, we will need to limit turnovers, score a lot of points, and keep our composure and not take bone headed penalties.
Winnipeg, Montreal, BC, Edmonton and Calgary all are contenders because the parity is so extreme between them. none of the listed teams have separated from the pack, which will make for a very compelling playoff
Yeah, McCallum comes up 2 yards short and Toronto doesn't get one or two of those generous calls, and those two games go the other way in October, and Calgary would've won the division today, without playing a lick better, or worse, then they have.
It won't surprise me if this team loses the WSF or wins the Grey Cup. This year, for the first time in a long time, there is no clear front runner, or, clearly consistent team in either division, in any given week. All teams have looked like complete junk more than once or twice so far this year.
