I'm for the addition of multiplayer if it means co-op main storyline gameplay... I think that'd be great in this style of game.

If it's multiplayer versus... I just don't see that working with the existing combat mechanics.

it's been confirmed it isn't versus multiplayer. It has also been confirmed it isn't a co-op single player element. The co-op missions are a lone item that semi-affect the single player game.

Is it just me who would want to play the single player first, then maybe multiplayer? Although I don't know how that would work story-wise, it seems better than having the multiplayer "first", then singleplayer.

well you can go back and forth from singleplayer to multiplayer, which is what i think their intention is.

I'm hoping that they do the multiplayer like Portal 2 did. You have a storyline for single player, and then you can do more in multiplayer if you want. It's just hard to tell a good story in multiplayer.

The only reason I really care is that even the BioWare EA Alliance doesn't have unlimited money and resources, so any of either spent implementing any form of mulitplayer means less devoted to the single player campaign. It also smacks of the same "appease those who criticized any aspect of the game before those who liked it" attitude that has plagued earlier BioWare games, leading them to having sequels that make unnecessary changes to gameplay.

Give me a great core game that builds and expands on the earlier installment. That's it.

A video on ME3's Multiplayer. Gets going around the 1 minute mark:

I don't know if I like that "You'll get a better ending if you do well in multiplayer" bit, personally. I've never been a huge fan of multiplayer. But my main problem is that I don't like playing with random folks on the 'net. Perhaps there's enough to be some interest in folks from CP, though.

listen to what he says right after that bit. if you do everything there is to do in the single player campaign, you don't have to touch multiplayer to get the best ending. all MP is doing is letting you get to that best scenario a different way. the more i think about that the more i like it, especially when you consider that some people may have ME1 and ME2 playthroughs that screw their chances in the big war. what if you killed the Rachni and Council in ME1 and then blew up the Collector base in ME2? i think you'd be pretty screwed for resources against the Reapers in that situation, but the MP side missions could help make up for that

i just hope that ME3 actually gives you proper multiple endings that reflect your choices in all 3 games, and not simply "win or fail". my main Shepherd character killed the Rachni and Council and then fully sided with Cerberus and kept the station. i want her ending to reflect that and have Humanity as the only dominant species left in the galaxy after everything is said and done (and get my own alternate universe from Star Trek). whereas my male Shepherd character is all about building a massive multi-species fleet to deal with the Reapers and i want to see that reflected as well

of course. as soon as I saw the media uproar over FemShep getting it on with a blue alien in ME1, my first playthrough was set. plus it doesn't hurt that Jennifer Hale is a very good voice actor, whereas the male Shepherd has about as much personality as a piece of wood

^ regarding the choice for FemShep:

In a game like Mass Effect, with all the cutscenes and of course 3rd person playstyle in general, I'd much rather stare at a female digital hiney & bewbage for the endless hours that I play these games than a male one.

Easy choice.

I really wish I remember what my choices were in the first game... seems like so long ago that I played it. Is there a character summary thing for your character somewhere that outlines the choices you've made? Hell I can't even recall some of the choices I've made so far in ME2 (haven't finished it yet, put it down for a while but am playing it again now).

All you need to really know is Did you survive, who in your party survived, were you a renegade or a suck.

From the first one?

In the second one so far I've almost got both the Paragon & Renegade meters full. (I find I feel forced to choose Paragon options when trying to win party loyalty missions, but the rest of the type usually pick Renegade options... and on those loyalty missions, the Paragon choices seem to be worth alot more)

In the first one I think I was Renegade... but again, so long ago I'm not sure... Guess I could load up the game & see.

I think in the second one at the start game launcher screen you can see what choices you made in the first one.

The other important points are "Did you kill Wrex in the first one?" who did you sacrifice in the first one" How did you deal with your stalker in the first and second game?

Did you help Garrack get his revenge.

Who was loyal to you in the second game.

Did you help Liara find the shadow broker.
